I heard we picked up shuttle america's POS A models to go with their routes. Flying yesterday's airplanes into tomorrow......

I have it on good authority that the United filghts will be in the New England area.

Why would Colgan go for the retiring SA A-models, when all their other Saabs are B's? It's not like there's a shortage of B's or anything, although the SA birds have already been painted. ;)

Colgan will kill you!

They are going to use the 340's that are in Houston because CO is going to give them the boot. Colgan is is more like a chop shop. There performance sucks. 25% on time and 76% completion. Way to go guy's. They lost 8 mechanics in the last week an a half because they refuse to work in those conditions. If United give's you a contract I'd be suprised. Colgan is the worst Regional.Period. I have to ask one Question. What takes you longer, doing your pre-flight or reading all the inop stickers?

And what stellar company do you work for?

haha, exactly. It seems the only 2 you can work at on this board are UPS or Fedex. Every other place has some sort of a knock on it, and people love this.

Mesa: bottom feeders
CHQ: bottom feeders
Colgan: bottom feeders
SWA: PFT...gotta pay for the type
United: living through bankruptcy
Jetblue: no pay, will be screwed when they pay for their planes
Airtran: they are value jet you know
Eagle: have fun upgrading on 7 years
Coex: people did PFT here back in the 90's
Comair: this place used to suck, so you may suck if you work there
Continental: 1st year pay is 30K, so the whole place sucks

So if a dude wants to rip on a company and someone asks him where he works, what is the best answer that would not warrant any kind of comeback? I think the only possible answer is Fedex, but the comeback would be: "prove it"

Guys rip on FedEx cause you have to know someone or 3 to work there.

The horror!!!!

takes longer to read the inop stickers

How many times have you checked the can for MEL stickers to put on the non-dimmable EGPWS button, only to find them all used up? A uniquely Colgan experience.

Oh, well i see their you have military experience. HA!!!!!!!

American: you guys screwed TWA pilots
USairways: you screwed over your furloughees
Skywest: you suck cause you have no union
Horizon: slow upgrade
Commutair: you only fly a beech 1900, and for low wages
Independence: screwing the industry by giving the seats away for free
PSA: you got jets and piedmont and allegheny didn't, survey says: you whores!

Boston maine: you suck
Pinnacle: a haven for PFT hires= you suck if you work there, and are a whore
ASA: you fly 70 seaters, which kill mainline jobs. Ruining the industry
Delta: soon to have a pay scale much lower then SWA for similar equipment

Where to work, where to work?
Fedex does have that $50 fee too. You know, your place sucks.;)

I guess we all suck then. I should have been a lawyer....wait...that means I would suck too. Would Male Gigilo constitute being a sucka$$ career?

Just wait for this conversation to turn perverted !!! hahahahh
Now since we all suck I guess we need to measure the differential sucking power between each airline to figure out who sucks harder!

The problem with Colgan is you don't realize how bad it sucks until you escape the whirlling vortex of terror.

sure is a lot of sucking in this business

I think a need to smoke and grab a cold shower

Aren't you the dude who's resignation letter looked like it was written with a crayon?

I was gonna write my letter in crayon, but another guy in the crashpad ate the whole box so I had to use a sharpie marker instead.

Did he leave the wrappers all over the floor? Are you that dude i saw in BOS with the black marks around the nostrils? Be careful with those things, it's not a toy.

Been with Colgan longer than most on this post and have never flown an aircraft that i did not want to. I sleep in my own bed every night and get to see all of my kids school activites. Y'all can beat on Colgan all ya want, but quality of life does not get any better.

Of course you haven't.... There are/were plenty of pilots at Colgan that don't do a walk around either. Maintenance can fix the problems at the end of the night, right?? The first question the Feds asked me the Monday after the crash was how many people pass along MELs on a cocktail napkin. The second question was is that the way JB and DN want it?? I think you know the answers to both of those questions.

If you can spend every night at home and not have to wonder when the next engine is going to sh!t itself, you have real QOL. What Colgan offers is not real QOL.

You all fly safe now!!

Colgan was better than Eagle.

That's all I have to say about that.

Hey chperplt, Congrats!!!!!

Congrats, I have done some reading on them and they look to be staying just below the radar where any company in this industry should want to be.

I was in HYA the day of the crash and I knew them well. But mx has mproved and there has been some alot of work to insure that day would not be repeated.

I was in HYA the day before and wrote the plane up... I think it was the 4th or 5th I had written up in a 2 month span for the same problem. Nothing like getting up to altitude and finding your pitch trim is frozen!

I would like to believe that MX has improved, but the rash of engine failures over the past 6 months leads me to think the overall performance is the same.

The sad part is it's not just a knock on the MX department. I've spent many hours/days/weeks in the HYA and ALB MX hangers and saw first hand the pressure those guys are under. Every 5 minutes HEF is calling to see when the plane will be ready. It's not hard to understand why oil fittings get missed or left loose.

What the guys did on 210CJ was criminal, but I don't think that's the norm in the entire department.

The recent engine deal I think was a bird ingestion. Not sure what a Mech. could have done about that, my experience has been that a lot of HQ check on the planes multiple times during the proccess is usually the norm. The difference is that usually the crews are not in as closes ear shot of the calls.
