Does anyone know if we are getting any more flying or SAABS?

Yep, we're done with gettin Saabs. Fleet total stands at 32 Saabs and 9 Beeches. Only problem now is lack of flight crews and mechanics (that know how to fix the planes correctly in the first place). Very short on Saab crews right now especially Captains.[/QUOTE]

Where did you hear this from? They just stated that 5 more Saabs are coming on the line this month alone. Not sure how many more to go though. For the new hires, have fun in class! Where is this Monday class taking place? We're all in the Houston one going on right now.

Next class is on the 25th in Houston!!! I can't wait!

Another young naive inexperienced pilot. Pay attention to everything they teach you, and especially to the things they don't teach you. They will save your life some day.

Good luck.. let us know if you still have that same smile on your face in 6 months.

BTW... Do you really have all the ratings besides that ATP??

Hello,
As a former Colgan pilot, I can vouch for many of the not-so-great things about working there. However, I don't think that this would be the place to discuss them in specifics. I will say that Colgan has some systemic problems, but all airlines do to some extent. My biggest beef was the lack of work rules and being the "band-aid" for crew scheduling/dispatch supervisors not thinking beyond the next five minutes.
Training quality was very good, and I felt like I was well prepared to operate the airplane (Beech 1900). I flew with some excellent captains and learned how to fly the line and survive the weather, maintenance, delays, scary ramp personnel, etc...All the things that a good commuter pilot needs to have in his tool box.
I have since moved onto the world of DCUs, EICAS, FADEC, ECPs and FMS. However, I will always look back fondly on the flying the Mighty Beech 1900!

Regards,

Ex-Navy Rotorhead

so true brother...

it seems more lately those things that are not taught are becoming normal checklists. hold the fort down while I'm at the redneck riviera. If I get bored, I'll head to Sin City and hook up, first one's on me...

ccccceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The instructor for systems came from Chicago Express and is an excellent instructor. He will give you all the nitty gritty and put it in a format where you can actually understand it. The only thing you'll need to know is what does the boxed "ANG" mean on the EHSI.

Anyone else fly the rig that has Ron Jeremy stickered in it? I would read and look at as much porno as you can in class that way you know what and who you have stickered in all the hiding places inside of your saab 340. Enjoy.

Nice! Thanks for the help and hope to c you guys soon.
Hey Chperplt I hope you get your MD-80 job! Thanks for advice!
Good luck.

Awesome! Congrats man... there's 14 of us there right now. We'll see you at the hotel and the classes. Ask anyone questions you have ... everyone is helpful.

Just out of manassas. Senator announces lease of 10 saab 2000's for use with continental also announces united codeshare out of dulles with an additional purchase of 10-12 saabs. I never thought i would see 50 seaters at colgan. BIG NEWS in manassas. United to start in NOV/05, with 2000's DEC/05.

A little birdy who's initials are POI told me. Although, there are quite a few people with those initials.....

For those wondering about upgrade, their still seems to be a steady stream of captains and FO's quiting.

What's up with that contract you have to sign with Colgan? Do they make you pay if you leave before the first year is up? I'm asking for a friend that has a class date. Thanks.

Its a one year, 16k pro-rated contract. Every month you work, the amount owed decreases.

I have to admit I chuckled when I read this, but then I thought it's a pretty bold and detailed statement for a garden variety flightinfo rumor. Anyone else heard this?

Hey BRA, speaking of Ron Jeremy, I met him at Best Buy in PWM a few X-mas's ago. At first it was "Hey, that's Ron Jeremy", then you sit there and wonder (yes I know -- hung) how a short, fat, dumb troll can make so much cash. Then I thought of the shallow gene pool in charge of CJC:)

Exclaimer: I can neither confirm or deny the last sentence was made by me

That's funny!!!

My wife met him at the AVN's last year... said he was a nice guy..

He was nice. Told myself and TH to come by the Pure Platinum and tell the bouncer "Ron sent you". The wife and sister weren't too into it though!

Yeah, and now he is making appearances on my flight deck. If we throw his cock in reverse may be we could use him to unfuc our operation here.

I'm in ground right now and the rumor is that they just bought 5 or 6 more saabs and will probably be buying the saab 2000 as well as taking some united runs from shuttle america. Only been here a couple weeks and another class has already started I haven't even flown I now I'm already like 20 up seniority!! And it sounds like they will continue to hire.

Chper, who the H E double hockey sticks gave you permission to use my photograph as your avatar?
