Colgan Q 400 pay

Just got done riding jumpseat with Air Wisky and the captain asked me what a 4th year captain on the Q would make. and I replied with the answer he, I shat you not, choked on his coffee and said you fly that thing for that much your nothing more than a GOJET driver....He's gotta point. I'm just embarrassed!

Hope you told him to stick his jumpseat up his arse and asked him if he was flying a previous US route.

I THINK THIS PAY IS SHAMEFUL.
I HOPE THE COLGANS ARE READING THIS STUFF, (apparently they do) AND I HOPE THEY RECONSIDER.
However, I WILL be going to this Q400, if only for more money, cuz I don't make enough where I am now. Pathetic isn't it.

Look at it this way Gents and cracks, the Q may very well be under what it should be, but it is much above the slaab with no APU in IAH during the summer. Any pay increase with colgan we should consider ourselves lucky. Get another type fly in an aircraft were the a/c actually works and engines are not on derivative power. EWR Will suck but flying a new aircraft with the working essentials is all i'm looking for. Don't want to go to the Q because of the sh***y pay stay on the saab and freeze ur nuts then cook them in the summer

10 AN HOUR!! I would not flight instruct for 10 an hr. When your making 45 per hour and add 15 to that who ends up on top? I'm guessing most of you are independently wealthy.You can afford to sit back and complain about pay scales being in the toilet, but what your missing is the fact that you can increase your income by 1000 a month or better. I have a child at home and bills to pay, call me a jack a** but if i have the chance to make more money to support my family with and pay my bills i'm gonna do it, i've not been handed the money load from my parents

That's ok with me. I understand where he is coming from, I don't think many people outside of colgan do.

I have said it before, I don't think people get what it's like to work here. The next time you open up your crew meal, or give your monthly trip extension refusal, or crack open that paycheck which has 4 digits instead of 3, remember that you are not getting that because your management is so grateful for your dedication and service.

And, while you are at it, remember that Colgan pilots are not getting that.

Sounds like the flight attendants at CJC are thinking of organizing. They will appreciate your support as well. Ask your flight attendant if they have ever done the catering and cleaning of the airplane by themselves.

The fact is, this is the world we live in. United is starting guys/girls at 31 per hr to fly 737 757 airbus. Cal is the same with no insurance for the first 6 months.
Little things like Working essentials to guys that have worked with a company with no union for years are things we look forward to.

This post Illustrates the entire reason we need to improve things. By accepting lower pay and work rules we are erroding the pay and workrules at 1)other airlines including the majors 2) At Colgan when we get new airframes on property. It does this because airline management teams can get us to work for them for less because "it is better than what i get now".

The only reason Major's can get us to work for the crappy wages they offer in the beginning is because it is still "better than i get now".

Sure the first year pay anywhere else sucks. But look after that. You always take a hit the first year in any industry.

I disagree. Most industries are NOT seniority based. Let's say an engineer, actuary, or some other proffesional wants to make more money. What do they do? They go to work for another company and make more money in the transition. They don't sit around having to wait thier time to get thier "upgrade."
