Colgan for Cleveland Jan-Feb two saabs Continental. Heard also ORD again from numerous people. This can't just b a simple rumor.

I thought ORD didnt want anymore airliner T-Jet traffic. They might be training them there, but what are the chances some rampers will get moved down to MDW?

Two different people mentioned Chicago today (~10 planes; and both heard it from mgt. or folks in training). In other news, CHO is getting a second plane next month (from HEF). Anyone hear that upgrades in November are suspended? Hope that's not true. Just get this feeling that something is going to be announced soon...

About the Saab in ORD...You think they'd take a Saab off-line all day, fly it on their own nickel (5000+ lbs. of fuel r/t) to ORD for some rampers to see out of the kindness of their hearts, or do ya think it was out there because they (and United) want to hawk Saab flying to another UAL base? The second scenario sounds more plausible to me.

I keep hearing that the NOV upgrade might be cancelled, I am in the DEC class and no-one has called me, I haven't interviewed for the upgrade yet, I guess that will be moved as well. If anyone has any REAL info on the subject, please post or pm me, thanks.

help me make the connection between cancelled captain upgrades and expansion. I would figure there would be accelerated upgrades schedule preceding expansion

Anyone know which authority determines the type (i.e. Jet or T-Prop) of traffic allowed into an airport if any?

That would be the logical step, but then again this is Colgan.
They'll accelerate their captain upgrades when they critically short on them.

Exactly! But what do I know?

But it could always be a matter of available resources. if they have a high number of FO's to train, shortage of captains they may need these guys flying the line and living in the sim and can't handle the volume of training.

Of course this leads to the discussion on ways that colgan can stabilize its workforce. Which eventually will play a big role in its fiscal future in regards not only to training costs now, but future acquired contracts.

There aren't as many eager 1000 hour pilots out there and the upgrade isn't one year. just ask those who have been at Colgan for a year. 2nd year pay is a b!tcH

They are short on FO's and have a big class coming in now so they cancelled NOV upgrades for the sim time. I heard they will double up in DEC.

I heard the same. A guy in my base was in the Nov upgrade class and they told him that they needed all of those FO's on the line for the next month to cover some "new" stuff. He also said that the upgrade class in Dec will be doubled up. I also heard today that CHO will get another plane, for dedicated United and US flying.

In Chicago it would probably be Jessie Jackson Jr. ......." You a bat!"

No Midwest. I found out that MESA has the three EAS contracts. heard from an IDOT aviation dispatcher---Call them and see for yourself! No joke.

I am not completely "in the know", but I can confirm that HR is ramping up for significant pilot hiring in the next few months, and the NOV. upgrades are indeed cancelled on the Beech side.
The Cleveland deal is going to begin in February with 2 SAABS serving EAS cities, which ones will be served I don't know. The ORD/MDW? thing is also in the works. CJC has options on 7 more SAABS beyond the three that have already been "ordered". The "A" models are being returned to their respective lessors (hopefully, never to return...Get tired of being vectored around those turds as we scream by in the Beech...j/k fellas). Heard of some more UEX stuff out of IAD as well. Not the best place in the world, but there is some good opportunity for advancing your career here. Personally, I've not had too many problems short of a couple ADXs that forget who they are working for at times, and that is a little aggravating. I'd recommend flying here for the time required to move on and hopefully not become a "lifer"(me? Afraid to say).

Looks like it isn't Mesa or Great Lakes.

It's possible Decatur residents could fly to Chicago to celebrate New Year's Eve.

As it was recently reported in the Herald & Review, the long sought air service between Decatur and Chicago may happen sooner than expected.

About three months ago, it was announced that the state-subsidized flights might not get off the ground until March 2007. Airport officials were disappointed with that news, as were others who look forward to the day when you can board in Decatur and land at Midway in Chicago.

But officials recently said the schedule may be moved up. "Our internal goal among the three communities is to have an announcement in the very near future for possible startup service in late 2006 or early 2007," said Mark Hanna, airport manager at Quincy. The flights would serve Quincy and Marion, in addition to Decatur.

Key to the negotiations is $1.2 million in taxpayer-based subsidies that were earmarked for the one-year program in the current state budget. None of the cities currently offer passenger service to Chicago. There is an informal agreement that the subsidies would be renewed for at least one additional year.

The airports had initially worked with Arizona-based Mesa Airlines to provide the service and later talked with Wyoming-based Great Lakes Airlines as a potential partner.

Both of those airlines are out of the picture, and officials are dealing with two airlines that officials refused to name.
"The cat will be out of the bag soon enough," said Gene Marcinkowski, manager of the Decatur Airport. "We don't want to mess anything up."

The airport officials would only say that one of the airlines is new to the area, while the other one is more familiar with Illinois markets. Officials said they've made "very good progress" during the talks.

Airport officials are currently working on some contract language and hammering out other details. If those talks are successful, an announcement could be made in the near future.

A New Year's Eve flight to Chicago may be a little ambitious, but flights between Decatur and Chicago's Midway Airport could be a reality in early 2007.

Nothing is known about ticket prices, but it's feasible that with the cost of gas and parking, it may be just as economical to fly to Chicago as it is to drive. That should be pretty attractive to Central Illinois residents.

Air service between Decatur and Chicago has long been a goal of community leaders. The sooner those flights begin, the sooner Central Illinois residents can prove they will use the service.

Well, Gooseman in theory it's supposed to be a 50/50 proposition. However, in actual practice it doesn't come across that way to me and I am actually much more easy to get along with than many of the people that interact with "mission control HEF". I will say that the PIC has the final authority and is held 100% accountable. Read any NTSB report and you will also come to that conclusion. The reality is that an ADX can only do so much beyond providing information to allow the PIC to make decisions based on all the data available. I can cite more than one occasion where I have been given incorrect, incomplete and poorly prepared data. I can accept the first two because we are all capable of a mistake and that is forgiveable. The last instance isn't as easy to dismiss and couple that with a bad attitude and you might understand my dismay at the p**ing contests that go on.
