For you guys at Colgan. Since you dont typically do overnights, do you usually bring a bag with clothes or just bring your chart case?

The easiest way to have a grounding mechanical in an outstation is to report to a one day pairing with only your flightcase.

That is normally the case, but in my time at Colgan, I never had an unscheduled overnight or any instance when I would have needed a change of clothes and didn't have one. I've 91'ed airplanes around for all hours of the night, but never had to sleep somewhere else. That would have meant they would have given me per diem and stuff like that doesn't happen often.

I memorize the route and approaches and use the aux headset already in the airplane: Poof, no bags! That gives me plenty of room to carry my lunch pale, Xbox720, reading materials, laptop, baseball glove, and other must-haves for the ride.

Don't worry about that stuff. I got stuck overnight. Underwear goes inside out , you iron your clothes, take a shower , use mints instead of brushing your teeth. If your underwear is hershey squirted just go commando style and throw out the underwear. YOu figure I would learn and carry a change of underoos or a toothbrush. Screw that.

Overnighted twice in 1 month...the two days i didn't bring an overnight bag. Otherwise, they've found ways around stranding me somewhere (there were another 3 or 4 close calls)

I always take a small bag. Everything to change of essentials to aspirin, mints, gloves, tote umbrella, etc.... usually slides behind seat. Then again I am the best pilot out there.

I use the in flight wipes for a fresh shower and thats about it! No worries man, its only 24 hours! JK

I learned very quickly... when on reserve, bring a bag. I took the Colgan tour many times. It was especially fun when you got a call from DR on your last day to ask you to do one more trip. The good news is that you can at least negotiate for another day off or other considerations.

I used to call it a chart case but after reading the thread on toilet emergencys inflight I can now only stand there and laugh and think of it as a `Shart Case'.
