How long would it take for a new hire to get IAH at Colgan? Is it a senior base for the Saab?

If I was to get based in the Northeast.... would it be possible to commute from Houston until getting IAH? (Yes, I know it would suck, I just wanna know if its doable) I just got a house in Houston and plan on staying for a while.

Any preference in aircraft?? I wouldn't want the 1900 just because I would never be able to get IAH.

thanks-

You could commute but you will probably hold a reserve line, making it difficult to commute. Best bet, get a good crash pad and have patience. Good luck!

yeah after/during your 1st month you can bit elsewhere then you are based locked for 3 months.

I live about an hour from JST. It seems to be the consensus that I will not have trouble getting that base.

Also, could a current Colgan pilot tell me how many hours on average they get paid for each month. I know that 75 is the minimum, but I want to know if the avg pilot gets paid for more than that amount of credit hours.

Thanks.

once your seniority gets a bit better, doesn't take long...you should routinely go over block and average at least close to 80 hours, often more if you are based somewhere where you do lots of repos and run-ups.

Funny, I was wondering the same thing, moving to IAH and looking at xjet and colgan... so is IAH a senior base or are some guys actually getting it out of training? How long is the wait typically, or is it pretty random? I understand that they don't give out bases until AFTER training, is this so guys don't walk out on day 1? Is there a Colgan forum like xjet and AE? Thanks!
