Has anyone heard how many pilot's CoEx is planning on hiring in 2004?

It has been a long time since we could ask about this: What is the payscale for ExpressJet? Per diem? guarantee? Quality of Life? Any info would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

There are better airlines out there than Continental Express. We all wanted to work there because of all of the new shiny jets that they were getting along time ago.

Now, just about all of the Continental Pilots are on their seniority list and all of them are senior jet captains with no signs of returning to Continental anytime soon.

So, with no new deliveries and all of those senior pilots stuck on the list, why would you even apply to such a stagnant company?

More room for us at a better airline, I guess.

Have fun being an F/O for 20 years.

COEX seniority list = the next American Eagle list.

Hey Ben,

Continental is starting to show signs of improvement with new flights and some capacity added - callbacks could happen soon (although at a trickle in the short term). I know of couple of FOs who have Captain upgrade classes in the next few months. I wouldn't be that negative....

Your stats are little off Ben,

Only about 1/3rd of the Captians at XJT are CAL pilots and some will be recalled this yr. We are still taking 3 jets a month and have been for almost 3 yrs now. Thats more growth than some airlines will see in 10 years. BTW, 110 fo's will be upgrading as a result of our most recent bid, some were Captains before some were not.

I could care less if someone wants to come here or not, there will always be plenty of people lining up, but you should have your numbers straight before you spout off.

You seem a little bitter. Get turned down or something? Which airline that is hiring right now would be a better option for someone if XJT is such a sh$thole? Just curious.

My guess it that Ben had a rough day in IAH.

Wrong.

Wrong.
So, with no new deliveries
Wrong.

You definitely don't belong here. Maybe Mesa is hiring.

When Coex files for chapter 7 reorganization bankruptcy in 5 years, you guys will all see what I am talking about.

I don't expect the idealistic, I am going to make my fortune flying puddle jumper jets, REGIONAL pilot to understand my advanced thinking.

I know some people that went to Coex and they are really unhappy with thier lifes in the airlines right about now.

They are wishing that they would have went to mesa or skywest so that they could be getting PIC time, like me and not sitting in the right seat of a jet pulling gear for a Continental SCAB who will be there until the end.

Maybe I got turned down by Coex, SO WHAT?

Coex will be gone in 5 years, just ask the Continental scab pilot sitting to the left of you in the cockpit on your next trip.

Are you ready to lose your job?

Ben - that was a neat comment.. thanks for that. If you're such a well-established fortune teller, why are you in aviation? I'd expect to see you elsewhere, like the circus. Or maybe you could become JO's own personal palm reader... that would be cool huh??

Ben Franklin, please stay out of this, if you want to vent your frustration do it somewhere else. This board is supposed to be used to pass information to pilots about specific questions they may have so we can be more informed about our profession.

Please can someone answer a few questions for us: What is the pay scale for ExpressJet? Per diem? guarantee? Quality of Life? And for CrewDawg: What are CoEx hiring plans for 2004?

Thanks

I'm not even going to touch that last half dozen or so posts, but I just have one (serious) question: Would there be any hope at COEX for an older, 40-ish guy (with 4000TT/500ME/ATP ex-corporate/Pt 135 charter)? Or might there be some truth to the rumor that circulated during the last round of hiring that they favored the 20-somethings with less experience?

(This is *not* flame bait and no, I wasn't turned down. Just looking for straight opinions from those in the know. Thanks.)

Well thanks to those of you trying to help.

-ben-
I never said that CoEx was the best out there, I was simply asking what there hiring plans were for next year. I have seen that other people have been posting planned hiring numbers for other companies, and I was just wodnering about CoEx. With the SCAB comments, obviously you have something against Contenintal Pilots. I do appreciate your insight on what you know about the company but I do not appreciate the manner in which you put it. I thought this is suppost to be a site to help people out no put them down.

Again thanks to those who are helping and I appreciate your responses.

Ben,

I know some guys at COEX and they like the variety, the airplanes, and some just got reinstated as Capts on the jet. Yeah, the flowdown was a bummer for some, but it seems like things are getting better and that some of the CAL guys will be going back to CAL soon. It sounds like their new contract will eventually improve their lifestyles and pocket books, so I would say that things can only get better there. I hope you are enjoying your current job.

Bye Bye--General Lee;)

CrewDawg,
Just so you're not misinformed, Ben knows absolutely nothing about our company. He's proven it with each post. The furloughed Cal pilots at Exjet are scabs?......Whatever.

Hanger Guy, I know this doesnt help out too much because I am not an employee there, but I did have the pleasure of being an Intern there. I was able to attend indoc class, and we had 20 people in the class. Two guys were in their mid 40's. One was a 135 lear pilot, and the other on was a CFI. Also the company I work for, we have a Furloughed XJT pilot, and he is in his late 40s. So in conclusion, I would give it a try.

None of the flowback CAL pilots are SCABs. They are all CAL 1998-2001 hires.

Ben is posting flamebait and is clearly bitter than he wasn't hired previously.

The hiring process will be totally different this time around. John Dresser will not be involved at all. All resumes and applications will be submitted online. The site will open sooner rather than later so pay attention to www.expressjet.com.

Pay and benefits are tough to tell at the moment since we are in the "end game" of contract negotiations. Expect to see significantly improved work rules and definitely a pay raise of some kind. How big it is is anyone's guess at this time. Per diem is currently industry average but will increase as well.

Hiring will commence in the first quarter of 2004. All furloughed pilots have no had a chance to be recalled. Upgrades have started and the CAL flowbacks will start going back to CAL in the first quarter of 2004, thus driving hiring and movement. Growth is also expected with significantly more block hours scheduled for 2004.

This is going to be a good year, barring any significant industry event.

Sam

Typical amatuer pilots attacking the messenger here.

I never said NOT to apply at Coex - it's YOUR career to ruin.

Why would you want to get hired at Coex with NO movement on a seniority list except for backwards? The Continental Pilots will continue to come back to Coex until they are ALL on the list and they are all flying regional jets.

So you will basically be an FO forever there. What do they start at, like 19 an hour?

WOW! don't spend it all in one place!

What do their FO's max out at, like 31 an hour?

again:
WOW! don't spend it all in one place!

If you want to upgrade like me and be PIC of the ship and get a job flying a REAL airplane someday, then I am not recommending Coex. If you want to be a regional pilot yanking gear for former Continental Pilots for your entire career with no movement, then by all means apply at Coex. I will have fun laughing at you when you can't upgrade or make more than 31 an hour for the rest of your life.

Thanks for all the comedy you've provided me this afternoon Mr. Franklin. To think I've wasted so much time up to this point of my life. Bless you and the flaming universe you live in...

Signed,

Puller of Scab Gear

- PS: FTA ended a few months ago, but thanks for your insights. You're obviously well informed...

AHHHHHHHHHHHH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Most guys I know at COEX would rather be a FA than a MESA skywhore.

Hey buddy we're all really impressed that your a captain of your own "ship". Do you wear your uniform to the mall?

Just so you know there are almost 600 CAL pilots with recall rights at COEX right now. Yes Virgina, there is a flow through clause. And that means that because they came back they will GO back. 600 of them will leave! So at the very least thats some movement! So well your a idiot. Go fly your ship for MESA.
