First post, so bear with me if it's all screwed up. Anyone from Continental know what the plan is for future hiring? I'm trying my hardest to get in with 4 internal recs and over 3 grand PIC 121. Oh ya, I'm a check airman. What's the deal? I can't even get a phone call to say hi. Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.....

Right there with ya.

Not sure what's up there. I have the same time with a few more recs and it doesn't seem to matter. Just keep being patient is the only answer I get.

I keep going over my resume to see if I screwed up something and clicked YES on "I'm a felon" part. I had a captain on IOE get a call to say that he was hired. I mean, he didnt even have 1 hour as PIC in a 121 carrier. He was on his 2nd day of IOE. Oh well, I'll keep updating and hope for the best.

They are being a bit more selective now. The only way to get put on the short list is for one of the guys that recommended you to take a copy of your resume' in to one of the CP's and get them to pull your file. That will move you from the list of several thousand to the list of a hundred or so.

Unfortunately, your vast PIC experience doesn't mean much with Cal HR.

It's all about "who you know" when it comes to them.

I've seen newhires that are sons/daughters of senior captains or upper management with nothing more than some right seat time on the B1900 for outfits like Gulfstream Int'l getting hired while guys with experience like yourself are left waiting for the phone to ring.

good luck and hang in there.

call up KD Jost if you can, it may help.

Well, he's going to be screwed when he has next to no PIC Turbine time; )

Try calling KD.

Yep tried the phone thing too, every 3-4 months. Called KD up but that hasn't helped either. I had heard the times they were hiring some pilots at but wasn't sure if it was true or false on the low turbine time.

What Forged Blade said is right on the money. Someone has to talk you up with a chief pilot to get you put on a favorites list. If you have more than one person do it, even better. You want your name to get thrown around as much as possible (in a positive way of course).

CAL wants someone from the inside to STRONGLY recommend you. Writing something on an online form is good, but one of your buddies going down and telling a CP that he really needs to look at your application is much better. Your friend would be sticking his neck out for you, so do some soul searching and make sure that truly want to be at CAL for the long haul and not run off to Brown or Fedex, or some other more lucrative carrier at the earliest convenience.

Hope this helps... and hope you get a call... Good Luck!

The Navin.
