They will be landing on Runway 26L. The 26 is a reference to a magnetic heading. What you do is add a zero to the number, and the runway is basically on a westerly heading. There are 2 parallel runways, one on the left, one on the right. This is what the L denotes. They will be landing on the left runway on a westerly heading.
Just another avaricial pilot working just half time for $140K. Good thing they at least took some pride in their part-time work to save 100 or so lives."In the case of pilots, these are people who, according to industry, on average make $140,000 while working less than 80 hours a month . . . Not only should the consumer not have to suffer as a result of this avarice, but many analysts are concerned that with labor costs rising so high, airlines will not be able to survive economically or will at least put themselves in a hole for years to come."
STATEMENT OF SENATOR JOHN McCAIN
CHAIRMAN SENATE COMMITTEE ON
COMMERCE, SCIENCE AND TRANSPORTATION
FULL COMMITTEE HEARING
ON THE STATUS OF LABOR ISSUES IN THE AVIATION INDUSTRY

Okay, so I add a zero to the number.
Got it.
He was left of the centerline...
"We are hearing from another pilot who is familiar with this aircraft that the Network ID 10 Tango has malfunctioned.
L is for Laughing my butt off
R is for Really Reaching for something to fill the dead air during a live news story.
Next time there is something going on in aviation and is all over the news, someone ought to call into FOX and CNN and tell them that it looks like the "Network ID 10 Tango has malfunctioned".
I can hear it now:
"We are hearing from another pilot who is familiar with this aircraft that the Network ID 10 Tango has malfunctioned. CNN News has confirmed that there is a problem with a mechanism called the ID 10 Tango. We understand that the pilots are running through the steps on the Out of the Ordinary Checklist and will be making an emergency landing in 10 minutes. From the sounds of this, it seems that there may be some sort of computer malfunction or failure that may have occurred. Miles, can you fill us in on what the ID 10 Tango is and does?"
