The person's are gument seemed to me to be that since there were Christians in the concentration camps then the Nazi's could not have been using religion as a reason to kill. I was simply turning the argument back on him. Showing that it has nothing to do with the debate at hand. I know that Muslims use their religion as an excuse to kill. We all do.
All im saying is that blaming in inanimate object like a religion makes as much sense as blaming guns for killing people.
Guns don't kill people, people do.
And similarly Islam doesnt kill people, people do.

Islam does preach circumstances when a Muslim is to kill though, and the Quran preachs submission to Allah, his Qu'ran and profit Mohammed.

So while yes it is a person doing it, they are being instructed to by their religion.

They did not put Lutheran's to death for their religion. They put other Christian sects such as Catholics to death for their religion. Just as Sunni's kill Shi'ites, and vice versa.

I have to admit, I've never heard that. Anywhere I can get a source? Not doubting you, but I find primary sources are better than secondary sources, especially from internet message boards.

Anyways, I've had fun but its time to go. For those of you who have put forth intelligent arguments, I thank you for your time. Discussing things (rather than calling each other names) is one of the best parts of the internet. And for the guy who said I must think 9-11 was justified, I weep for the industry if you are a pilot exercising logic like that.

The Bible also does have some stories which appear "grussome." For instance, read Exodus 32, where it states, "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp...each killing his brother and friend and neighbor..." This was commanded by God to Moses because the Jews created a false image of God (a golden calf idol), which sounds very similar to the case of the cartoon. Moreover, you can read about people being stoned to death for gathering wood on the Sabbath (Numbers 15:32), or people being sentenced to death for cursing God.

The senior Nazi's had nothing but contempt for the teachings of Christianity. The notions of a loving God, forgiveness, turning the other cheek, etc. were not consistent with Nazi ideology (obviously). They had in mind some kind of more pagan type belief with some roots in Norse religions. Their long-term goal was that the Christian beliefs would be forgotten and replaced by ideas more consistant with their ideology.

Mainstream Islam needs to really speak up, denounce these despicable acts, and publicly distance themselves from these extremists.

I'm tired of hearing about how this is "just a few radicals." This is mainstream Islam, folks. Wake up. The difference between mainstream Islam and the radicals is the mainstream Muslims may actually sharpen the blade before they sever your head in front of a video camera. That's about it.

During the crusades, Christianity sent nearly one million people to the Holy Land, ravaging Europeans in the process. So yes, relative to Christianity's violent history, this is "just a few radicals."

What I think is funny is all the "experts" here who have an opinion on a religion that they no nothing about, except for what's on CNN and Fox News. Until everyone gains a greater respect and understanding, it's just a bunch of fanatical Christians fighting a bunch of fanatic Muslims.
