Getting smacked a few times as a kid and told that you suck a few times won't crush little Timmy's spirit. If anything it builds character.

Its a he!! of a lot better than the BS these days of giving every single kid a trophy just for participating in a sport, you came in last place and you rode the bench every game but hey here is a super duper trophy just for showing up. What did that just teach the kid? Don't put forth any effort and you will get a trophy just for being present.

I never got spanked a day in my life. But you better believe there was the threat of it. Dad would start to pop his leather belt and that would change everything. I don't remember it but my parents swear I finally earned a spanking once (dad had to do it because mom didn't have the heart though she put up a good front) and I showed up for it with little golden books stuffed down the back of my pants. It was everything dad could do to stifle a laugh but he let me go without a tanned a$$. I got off easy and new it. No more bad behavior. This b.s. of reasoning and bargaining with kids does nothing but set the stage for kids controlling parents.

Of course she's going to whine and cry about how that mean FA insulted her kid. Everyone loves to hate the airlines these days.

She claims the FA told her to drug her obnoxious kid, but claims she made no threat. I'm betting she told that FA "I'm gonna beat your skinny a__ as soon as we park". She seems two steps from a trailer.

My brother I got our asses busted when we acted out in public as kids...19 months or otherwise. Only took us a couple times to realize when mom or dad says sit there and be quiet, you sit there and be quiet. My brother does the same with his 17 month old son, and I plan on doing the exact same with my children.

Guess we're in the minority?

I did the same with my son. All I have to do is look at him the right way and he knows to stop.....very handy in public places.

My favorite thing to watch is when he sees another kid have a temper tantrum, and he gives him a look of "what the heck is wrong with you?" He gives the parents who are desperately trying to control their child the same look. It cracks me up.
