Well, NW pulled their airlink service out of RFD because the city renigged (or wanted to cancel or whatever) some guaranteed revenue contracts because the city wasn't getting what they wanted from them. I know that the city itself was running some very good promos to use RFD -- for instance, they were offering rebates on ticket purchases there. I'm wondering if UAL will fare better with their deal.

Hooters Air to Cancel Service from the Greater Rockford Airport

Myrtle Beach, Dec 8 - Hooters Air announced today it will be reducing service from the Greater Rockford Airport in Rockford, Illinois and end service effective January 5, 2006. Increased costs and the recent announcement by the Rockford Airport Authority that it will provide $2.5 million in incentives and revenue guarantees to secure additional air service between Rockford and Denver to a Hooters Air competitor, has led to this difficult decision. "With the current market conditions Hooters Air will shift some of our assets from Scheduled Service to Charter Service," said Hooters Air President Mark Peterson. "It was not helpful that the Rockford Airport Authority provided revenue guarantees with public funds to a competing carrier on a route we have been operating."

hooters flew there until everybody else showed up. hooters air is turnng in 6 airplanes to the lessor next week. all 300's .. we hear Myrtle is shut down til march. some of our planes are power by the hour. we hear he's looking for others.

Mr. Brooks is quite gunshy about this crazy industry. i guess the press han't been inviting as of late.

Pace has always done mostly sports charters, pro and college and will continue.
