Just a couple of quick questions about training at Airtran. Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks.
1. What is the current pay during training
2. Does the company put you up during training, if so where
and
3. When do health beni's kick in, 30days after the start of training for 30 after IOE?

Thanks!

Hope you don't mind cl65capt but I'd like to add a question as well.

I thought Airtran also required you to sign a training contract. This I read a few years ago when one would think they would have a difficult time finding anyone to sign a training contract with almost everyone hiring. So I doubt they would have dropped the requirement now as many are desperate for work...me included!

1. Current pay during training is your first year hourly rate (now 39.50/hr) times minimum guarantee, which is 70 hours or $2765 a month.

2. No, the company does not provide hotel during training.

3. Health bennies start the first full month after starting groundschool.

There is no training contract, but you must resign from your previous employer.

Citrusjockey, thanks for you info. One more question if you dont mind. What does first year pay go up in 4/04? I believe thats your contracts aniversary. Thanks.

The Company does put you up if you are training out of domicile, and in the past, half of the classes ended up in MIA. If you get MIA, you get per diem too . . . . when I did it a couple of years ago, we were given a 2 bedroom townhouse and a rental car to split . . . . any break over 48 hours they have to provide you positive space to/from home. With Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years etc. off, it was pretty sweet.

I see by my recurrent schedule that our new ATL training center will be open in january (if it isn't already). Don;t know if that will be the end of MIA or not. . . . I hope not, 'cause I would like to do my upgrade down there.

Ty is correct that some of the simulator training is done in Miami. If that is the case and you are given a Miami sim the company will pay for your hotel and per diem while in Miami. Even if this is the case you will still do your first three weeks of groundschool in Atlanta where you would be responsible for your own lodging.

With the new training center opening later this year in Atlanta and the Miami 717 sim being shipped to Australia at some point in the future, I am sure the Miami gig will soon end. From what I understand the new training center will have 3 717 sims and it will probably take awhile to ship those sims from their locations, set them up, and recertify them. So Miami may be an option for the first few classes of 2004.

As far as first year pay in April of 2004, I am not sure. It probably will be in the 41-43 range although I am not cretain since I do not have my contract here with me.

Boy, what a relief to hear I am correct about something . . . don't tell D-Bags, it might crush his fragile ego and turn him into a mindless, babbling idiot. . . . oh, wait- too late. Oh, well. Hey, you win some . . . . lose some.

What were we talking about? Oh, yes, the new Training Center. According to the December Bid package, January PC and PT's are scheduled to be held in the new center, so it is open,or will be shortly.

The ATL training center will open in Dec 03. It already has 2 717-200 sims, as well as a 737-700 sim installed. The sims a re currently undergoing certification to Level D standards.

They should be up and running for exclusive AirTran use in mid January.

Once they are up and running, we have no plans on using either the other 717 sim in ATL (which is the one we currently use) or the 717 sim in MIA.

On 4-1-2004, first year pay will be $42.75 an hour, with a 70 hour guarantee.
