It be so fine looking and all dat. What it is? Scoop us on the wonders of this beast.....lay down the smack....taunt us with your esteemed position. ;)

It hauls ass. I'm lucky enough to have been on the assembly line several times to check those bad boys out in their various stages of assembly (a buddy of mine is management on the Sovereign). Cool facility. The Citation service center will be cool when it's done.

They are fast..... We have a department record of 705 knts gspeed. On a cold day and light weights, I've seen over 530 tas in the mid 30s. I'm sure some of the EJ "X" drivers have seen higher numbers. Fun airplane, but a b*tch in a gusty x-wind....

heard they break the sound barrier in shallow dives routinely
Actually I heard they tried to get it throught the sound barrier during flight testing but the transonic drag rise was so severe they could only get it to something like .98M

I have never seen "2 barrel" and "High Output" used in the same sentence, except for this one:

That thing isnt high output, hell it only has a 2 barrel...

Truly sad that cars 10 years older with no stripes on them could take it to school.

One more question:
Is it tough to grease it on? I've got a great Citation X download for FS2004 and even when it looks like a great landing, It still just doesn't "feel" right..almost as if it bounces every time. The "non-virtual" Xs that I've seen land at SDL always look like they have a hard time as well.

You can thank emissions controls (especially), the gas crises, and insurance rates for that... A Corvette that was only two years older, give or take, had well under 200hp from a 5.7L engine. That the X-11 engine, half the size, made 75% of the power made it high output for its' day. Think about this... A 1981 Ferrari 308 and a 1981 Porsche 911 both had only 205hp and would be beaten in a drag race today by any kid in a manny-tranny Subaru WRX.

Again... Look at it in the perspective of 1981 and it was pretty quick.

We test flew a X over a year ago. We did .82 in the climb to FL390 and got there in less than 20 mins. The demo pilots put the nose down and went to .92. It was cool, no we did not get one.

some Cessna test pilots I met at FAA water survival in OKC told me the X "will do Mach 1" but obviously the post-testing, FAA approved version does not do that.

Allegedly they did indeed break Mach with it in testing

I have heard that there is a supposed "mach kit" that allows the citation X to exceed mach 1.

Is it "bull"?
