Can anyone tell me what a captain will make starting out? And also how long it takes (approx.) to get to the left seat?

Do you like the company?
 
I don't know the captain's pay but what English stated is probably about right. I was told two days ago that the right seat to left seat transistion is anywhere from 10 months to a year and a half. Every pilot I have met from Citation Shares is pleased with his/her job. Some wish they had more "bases" though. All have been very professional and easy to talk to as well.
 
What's the requirment on jackets and long sleve shirts. I've seen a bunch of the pilots wearing the jackets in the swealtering heat in florida and frg. Is it a company requirement? I know how hot the ultra can be is the cj the same way?

What is the upgrade time from the cj to an xl? Do you have to upgrade in your own plane first or can you go the xl? Also is everyone typed in the plane?
 
TCAS - Citation Bravo's - yes. Not sure about the Excel or CJ.

Jackets - yes. No big deal.

Company size - smaller - yes. Many super folks!!! Makes a great difference in the day to day operations.

Training/recurrent on your off time, and not compensated - yes.

Vacation - one week/yr for new hires, as opposed to two wks/yr for the longer timers.

what do you mean that you do not get paid for training? Do you get per diem while at training? How do you get to training? Where is it done?
 
Sked is 7 on, 7 off.

Recurrent training is usually in your off time. No overtime, no compensation.

Usually, any days flying out of the 7 on are paid overtime days.

Training is with Flt Safety. Per Diem - yes. PIGHEEL
 
You say in your off time does that mean after a 7 day tour you have recurrent and then you go back on a 7 day tour?

Also is recurrent on your time off or is it only flightsafety?
 
recurrent might or might not be completely or partly during your 7 days off. Flight Safety is used for recurrent also, so recurrent = FSI = Initial. All at FSI
 
I'm not sure I understand, but we only have aircraft recurrent every six months. No additional company recurrent. If it's a Part 135 thing you're talking about, we're only part 91.

1 company recurrent

so the question is do you have a company recurrent and do they pay you for it?
 
well they can have company recurrent even if they aren't 135. It's a good time to discuss company ops. accidents or incidents, new changes to the company, other changes to health or medical policies, yada yada yada

trainerjet you don't even work there so how would you know?

So the question is knowing that you are not 135 do you have a company recurrent class. Also are there any plans to obtain a 135 cert?

Morale

Someone opened pandora's box and brought up the issue of morale.

Are CS crews really happy still? Are the crew that are been there a long time still happy? If so, why.

If not, why?

I certainly can't speak for everyone, but the people I fly with say they're pretty happy working here. I like it. It obviously isn't perfect, but there are a lot of good things going on. The company is growing quickly, there are numerous opportunities, and management is responsive to the pilot group. As pilots we're well paid, fly nice new aircraft, and the 7-on/7-off schedule gives you the chance to have a pretty good life outside of flying. Especially in light of what's going on in the rest of the industry, things look pretty bright.

I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to get your resume noticed. I currently fly the Citation 2, 5, 7 and 3. Have a Citation 500 series type.

What kind of duty days and flight time do you experience during a trip? Do you do much that wouldn't be legal under 135? ie long duty days or reduced rest?

Here's an example of what I want to avoid. I flew a trip a few days ago where we showed at 0600 and ended at 1100. We were notified at 1700 of a 2200 show for a redeye that ended at 0500. That was legal 135, but definitely not safe. I know this kind of thing happens sometimes, I'd just like to find out if you see this at CS.

Is it legal if your rest is interrupted for a briefing? This argument keeps coming up, with some taking the position that a new 10-hour rest period starts when the interruption ends.
 
That is such a gray area. I know people used to argue that point when I flew Part 121, but we still had to fly. Even the union wouldn't fight it. I'm sure my 135 company would not accept that my rest was interrupted, because I wasn't actually required to perform any duty for the company other than answer the phone.

like I said though, I really want to avoid more of that type of flying.
 
as far as getting your resume noticed the best advice i can give you is get a recomendation from a current pilot that helps out alot!!!!!!!!!!!!!. otherwise just keep updating your resume about once a month. this is a good place to work and management treats us well.
