Single engine fails on the go around at throttle up. 2 v1 cuts No flap landing. Landing stalls with 30 degree turn left and right? Why dont they just add a circling approach and type everyone. Share your PC experiences. We have heard the POI for CHQ is a tool. Better than 5 out of a class of 20 failed PC's and Orals.

Because if they typed everyone, everyone would leave right away with their new type and get a different job.

I dont see why it would hurt to type everyone on whatever RJ they are flying. Are you really going to be able to take that ERJ 145/170 type somewhere and get a job based on that?? I could maybe understand the CRJ CL65 type rating, but there is already such a glut of CL65 typed pilots out there.

Yes our POI is a freakin tool. However, SIC ride here has always had all that stuff, and if you can't handle it I sure as hell don't want you in the seat next to me! Sorry if it's too much strain.

Well, I guess you could take the 145 type and get a Legacy job if you wanted.

That sounds pretty normal for an SIC ride.

...or you were not strong and the CKAM wanted to see more before failing you (therefore exercising his ability to run his checkride)... you know giving you a chance to pass without any retraining? That way, your moments of discomfort avoid a "U" appearing in your PRIA training records.... if that was it, count your blessings.

Quit whining and fly you baby!

Single engine go around into an unpublished NDB hold... on the climb you copy your holding instructions LOL... you may have 15-20 sec to figure it out. I will never forget my sim instructor's face when Ronny threw that in.

On the other hand some people got a very "easy" profile. It depends who you get. I don't think they are asking anything that an SIC should not be able to handle.

Normal checkride.....................D E A L and get used to it.

If the company has their own examiners it does not cost them any more money to type someone.

That being said, why would any company type an FO? Why would they give them something for their resume what would make them (slightly) more marketable?

Only benefit I can see from typing everyone is that they would have to raise the mins to ATP, This would atleast keep the 300hr wonders away.

How would that help them at a time when they are having a hard time recruiting already?

The explanation for not typing provided by our FSI instructor was that on a type rating you can't legally retrain and re-examine on the spot. On an SIC ride they can. If you fail a maneuver while on a SIC ride, and it is not a big mistake they won't need to pay for another 2 sim sessions. One for practicing the unsat maneuver, and another for the retake. There are no 2nd chances on a type rating ride.
