CHQ seems to be hiring like wildfire. How long will this continue? I've heard 500 this year, how many of those have already been hired? With ~2000 TT, ~800 Part 135, what would be a reasonably competitive amount of multi time? Finally, how long to hold SDF (line or reserve)?

Disclaimer: Yes, I'm aware of CHQ's recent acquisition of routes. No, I don't need to hear more about it. It doesn't look like there is any shortage of other threads to duke it out on the internet. Thanks.

Boris

Our most recent seniority list is 60 days old and shows 86 hired this year. I think there have been 2 more classes since then, so prob around 120 by now. It looks like everybody is in the pipeline already for the US/RW transfer planes, and current orders outstanding are around 6 170's on the S5 side, nothing to speak of right now for RP except to backfill upgrades and transitions.

IF the COEX thing happens REALLY BIG IF then there will have to be quite a bit of hiring to fill those seats. Same goes for if DL or anybody else places another order. We have nearly immedialte delivery available for 170's, so new planes could hit the line in as little as 120 days. As far as if you can hold SDF, that would depend which certificate you end up on. It's only a base for RP on the 145, no 170's there so if you ended up at S5 or RW you'd be SOL..

Thanks a lot for the reply. I take it that once you're hired on one certificate, you're locked on that certificate? Or is it merely equipment related? (ie. You can upgrade out of the 170 to the 145 and change certificates?) Also, what seems to be the minimum multi-time for hire with high(er) total time and 135 experience?

Thanks Again,
Boris

Boris,

A 145 FO @ CHQ can upgrade to 170 Capt. @ S5 or RW or 145 @ CHQ, a 170 FO can do the same. A 145 FO cannot go to FO on the 170 and vise versa. Also a RW 170 FO cannot go to S5 170 FO and vise versa. So once you are assigned and aircraft and certificate as an FO that is where you are until upgrade. A 145 capt can upgrade to 170 capt. because of the pay increase, but not the other way.

If you really want SDF, tell them that at the interview and who knows it may happen. You might have to wait for a 145 class, but if its that important to you then...
As far as Multi time if you have 2000tt and 135 time I would think they would take anything north of 200multi. Actually with your total and 135 they might take as little as 150.
