This was sent to all CHQ pilots and FA's, its rather amusing.
Dear mr. XXXX and fellow employees,
I have been with Chautauqua since 1990 and have been through numerous management changes. One thing that they ALL have had in common was a straight forward approach to issues and an all encompassing desire to do what is best for Chautauqua and ALL it's employee's too succeed and grow.
Mr. XXXX, seems that you as a leader in this fiasco with the union has completely forgotten about your FELLOW employees and what is BEST for CHAUTAUQUA. In my view you are narrow mindedly messing with MY future livelihood along with ALL your fellow employee's and frankly it is PISSING ME OFF!!!
Where do you get off trying to strong arm the company with your unreasonable demands that will directly affect the future of this company?? It seems to me your beef should be with Wexford not CHAUTAUQUA to begin with.
I can fully understand why the union voted down the original "Jet for Jobs" issue, though I can't say I agreed with it. In my opinion 10 new aircraft would have meant 10 more sources of revenue, and at least 5 more aircraft for Chautauqua Crews to fly. Which would have been better than NO new US Airways routes and nor new crews. But, I wouldn't have wanted the Mainline crews to come in and bump me from my position and get more money to boot either.
After continued requests for acceptance of the "Jets for Jobs" were turned down WEXFORD not Chautauqua made the decision to absorb the "Jet For Jobs" requirements by forming Republic. Then they were going to give us a portion of those additional aircraft to operate. This would have seemed to be the best of both worlds, 10 more aircraft serving 10 more US Airways destinations crewed by 10 more Chautauqua Crews.
But, now all of sudden you all want to change your minds because it seems you're afraid somebody other than YOU might make out on the deal.
Have you ever heard of a Paradigm Shift? Where something changes in an industry and if a portion of that industry doesn't (Shift) with the change they get left behind a ZERO. Well, I hate to tell you this but the US Airways Industry changed with the presentation of the "Jet for Jobs". You as a group chose not to go along. But, now you have again changed your mind and now seem to want to accept the "Jet For Jobs" requirement.
BUT GUESS WHAT??? YOUR TOO LATE!!!! You MISSED the Paradigm Shift and WEXFORD Not Chautauqua took advantage and made the shift. SO GET OVER IT!!!
As for the salary issue there isn't an employee at Chautauqua that doesn't feel that they deserve more money. I have never figured out why supposedly intelligent people can get so wrapped around some Union's fingers. They say jump and like lemmings you all jump, even if it is right over the ledge into oblivion!!
DON't believe it. How many Steel Mills are there still operating in the US?? Where is Pan Am, Eastern, Braniff, TWA?? Why did US Airways and United have to file bankruptcy?? Some was poor management decisions, certainly.
But, I see the one greatest contributing factor that brought the downfall of the Aviation Industry as, NOT 9/11, but the Unions unreasonable demands. So, a portion of the poor management decisions that were made was allowing the wages to become way over inflated for the work that was being performed compared to the revenue that was coming in.
If you took time to look at the industry Historically it should be plan that it was in monetary trouble a long time before 9/11. 9/11 just gave the industry the excuse they needed to dump the over inflated wages and concessions they were giving away and bring them back into some resemblance of being reasonable.
If you are comparing wages, a person doing my job at other LARGER airlines can be making DOUBLE what I am making here. Guess, it is the same with you.
SO, I have a choice, stay at a STABLE, growing company like Chautauqua and do my job to the best of my ability and as a professional at my current Salary or go out and try to chase the rainbow in a very UNSTABLE aviation environment. My Choice!!
GUESS WHAT! YOU have the same choice. YOU should have been aware of the Salary ranges that could be expected when you accepted your positions. IF, the salary was not satisfactory to you then you SHOULD HAVE GONE ELSEWHERE to work. IF, the salary has become unsatisfactory to you Then you SHOULD GO ELSEWHERE to find a job where the salary meets your liking.
DON'T stay here and disrupt a good company and possibly affect other employees careers. AND DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU IN THE ASS ON THE WAY OUT!!!!!
