flighttime said:Couple IND questions
If on the 145:
1. How long has reserve been running
2. What are the lines like, how long are the trips
3. Pro's of living in Ind, along with good area's to but a house
4. Who does CHQ fly for
Thanks

SlapShot said:How much time have you spent in NYC that you did not feel safe? I have lived outside the city for most of my life and I have only felt threatened when I leave Yankee stadium at night. But luckily there are a lot of NYPD there.
I am not bashing you, I am just wondering what you based this opinion on.
On the upside, if you say it is safer than NYC then I would not need to lock my car if I moved.

P.S. What the hell is that smell?

2. Good balance of 1-4 day trips. Avg of 15 days off with a few folks getting 16-17. Min for reserve is 11, line holders get 12. Seniority and pref bid skills will get you a pretty sweet life. My last month as an FO I had 18 days off and only two nights gone. I think I was bidding 19 out of 60 FO's. It's possible that I was among the minority of FO's who preferred out and backs.
3. Cost of living is very reasonable. There are several nice communities not far from the airport. A lot of crews live on either the south side or the west side, either of which are a 15-25 minute driveway-parking lot drive. We found a starter home three bedroom two bath in the low 90's in Brownsburg which is a typical IND suburb. Go further north and it gets more expensive unless you go further west.
The pro's of IND are fairly subjective. What's important to you? I like midwestern cities with good schools and great churches. We're admittedly weak on mountains and oceans, but I'll trade that for the culture any day. IND is a big enough town to support big time stuff (Colts, Pacers, museums, symphony, etc) but feels safer than NYC or Chicago to me and my wife.
4. IND E145 crews fly UAL/DAL/US trips with flight benefits on all three.
Hope this was useful-
