Why SDF? Is there really that much CQH flying out of there to justify a base? Even if they are doing a bunch of CO flying in the future....why SDF?

Why SDF? Probably because they are good starting points into EWR, CLE and IAH....the same as every codeshare they already have out of there.

Because RP just built a brand new hangar there. SDF is also a big outstation and thats how our company likes to build their bases. They will probably staff the CAL flying on the SDF-CLE and SDF-EWR flights.
