 Well, this job posting took a suspicious turn. This from their website:

"Also an account number will be announced to you and you should pay an amount into our account."
[seems the amount is $975]

"After depositing the mentioned amount and sending the scanned deposit receipt to us, the process of getting your Visa will be started immediately."

Maybe West Air is run by a Nigerian prince ?

Is any part of the process normal for that part of the world ?

GF,

It sure looks that way. If it is, it's a pretty bold stroke for what appears by its website to be an actual airline.

I guess they figure they can get a few bucks from eager low time people outside China ? I can't imagine the amount they'd get would be worth staining their reputation.

If they actually need expat FOs (which seems unlikely), the $975 they ask for is just a drop in the bucket in the recruiting of an expat pilot, right ?

Puzzling...

Summer of 2014, for the first time, several Chinese airlines opened FO hiring to expats...because of the growing pilot shortage.

Cool...will supply & demand have an effect on pay, etc.?

Will it ameliorate what people tell about the astronaut physicals, abusive training, etc. I don't know if those things are true but people do mention it.

The Chinese airlines are pressuring the CAA to change to a normal physical, instead of a 21 yr old militant style ..

You mean the physical that is based off of 18-21 year olds who have lived their entire lives on rice, noodles and cigarettes?
