Good luck with the resume Aft....

All that has been said so far on this thread is right on, the best part of working at ChiEx are the people that work here with you, including a very open management relationship. If you live in Chicago, its not that bad once you get off reserve.

Its a shame its been so stagnant lately, and many people have decided to bail, mostly from the bottom of the seniority list in the past few months. The uncertainty has definately led to the lowest morale I have ever seen here.

Lots of broken promises (ie, JETS), but still a great group to fly with. If you are hoping to fly some sort of an RJ, or one day add something into the JET PIC column in your logbook, this isn't the place to apply.

Whassssup Capt. M ................

Whenever you get back from CUN, AUA, or FLL.... check your email...

Just got called for an Interview next Thursday at Lewis University. Anyone else going?

I know I read somewhere, but do they pay their new hires during initial training?

Anyone got any current info on the interview, aviationinterviews.com hasn't had one for several months?

Hey IP,

Not sure what is currently going on with the interviews, but here is the info on New Hire pay, right from our policy manual:

"CEX will offer the following benefits to new hire crewmembers:

- Crewmembers in initial new hire training will be paid a 65 hour guarantee per month, and will be paid bi-weekly

- The 65 hour guarantee will continue until the crewmember begins OE, at which time he or she will then receive a 75 hour guarantee until the crewmember is awarded a line.

- Hotel accomodations will be provided for new hire flight crewmembers while attending simulator training that is not located at the crewmembers domicile.

- A $450 initial housing allowance will be afforded to a new hire flight crewmember upon completion of 14 days of continuous employment with the company"

So, to make a long story short... yes, you will get paid while in training. The company will pay for your room (usually double occupancy) during your Simulator training in MSP, and will also give you a housing allowance to pay for your hotel/apartment/crash pad, etc while attending ground school in MDW.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Don't forget the "at the discretion of the VP of Flight Ops" blurb after everything in the "contract"

Nothing at all to do with pilots, but they are also hiring ramp agents. I got a call this morning for an interview for that........ ramp agent, big deal, i know....so they aren't getting rid of anyone, but are bringing in more people.

Then again with the point system, it's not hard to get fired if you are late for work.

Submitted a resume, noting that the mins were 1000TT. I made a followup call to Katie, got her voicemail. In her outgoing message, she stated that the mins for pilot hiring are 1500TT. Plenty of time left in the season... guess I'll need to haul a few more jumpers!

Metro,
There is nothing wrong with being a ramp agent. If you do a good job and really work hard...it is a respectable job. It's the rampers from the old days (that didn't do diddly) that gave rampers a crappy reputation at Chicago Express. I can tell you this...at least as a ramper you actually get overtime pay when you stay over at work (pilots do not) AND you will make more money as a ramper than an FO. That is no lie, it is a fact. One more thing, if you want to be a pilot at the company, working the ramp will get your foot in the door. Good Luck!

I worked as a ramp agent with Page Avjet (for Delta) and Daytona Beach Jet Center (for American). Best non-flying jobs I've ever had, even without any of the airline perks (flight privilidges, etc.). Very respectable, indeed. As Capt. Megadeth said, though... there are alot of slackers. Don't goof off and you'll be getting recommended for a pilot interview before you know it.
