Anyone have any gouge on "pilot priced" hotels near the DEN apt. Traveling through this week and looks as if I'll have to stay the night....an Airborne buddy said he remembered one being around $40 with the airline discount?? Thanks...

close to the airport

I can't remember the road, but it is the first one you come to when leaving the airport. Most of the hotels are to the south. Reliable transport 24/7, new rooms, 30-40 buck range, free HBO, and only 15 minutes from the airport. Red Roof sounds familiar. There are about 4 or so hotels down that road, you can see them from the highway. I also think that is where Frontier has their facility.

Tower Road.

Most of the hotels along that road (which is just off of Pena) offer good crew rates ranging from about $40/night before tax.

I typically stay at the Comfort Suites, which typically give a little more bang for your $40 + tax. There's a good little diner right next door, if you don't mind surly waitresses.

If you don't mind knowing exactly what hotel you're going to get, but have a good idea of which one it'll be, you can probably get a great deal on Priceline. Just go to www.biddingfortravel.com first to see the list of hotels in the DEN airport area and then to get an idea of what some of the successful bids have been lately.

Here's a more direct link:

Looks like someone recently got the Marriott Gateway for $43. After taxes and fees, it's probably about $53.
