It seems like they just throw people wherever they need them, and that there is no junior base? Can anyone shed light on this subject? Also, do you have to have higher times to get in the 170?

1500/300, 23 yrs old...basic ATP minimums for 170 for now. Haven't been here that long but junior bases now are RIC, BUF, GSO....could very well change in the future.

How are bases awarded to newhires, do they have any say in where they want to go? Once in the system how are bases awarded to current pilots?

How many pilots is CHQ hiring in the forseeable future??

Thanks,

Eagle FO looking for a way out.

We are around 1200 pilots now, the word is that they want 2000 on the list by the end of '06. It seems that right now they are awarding bases on need. Also it seems that unless you are going for one of the FL bases, you can get your requested base within a few months. You can almost count on going to BUF, LGA, RIC, or GSO at the moment. Works for some not for all.

Bases are awarded by your class seniority-oldest guy in class=most senior. In indoc, you fill out a "dream sheet" where you list the bases in order of your preference. After IOE,if a base has a need for pilots it'll be listed on the company intranet site and you bid on them. You also have what's called a "standing bid" in the system for your preferred bases should a slot open up.I think we're hiring 30 a month now and we're pretty understaffed on the 170,or soon will be.With the 28 from Airways,5 more for United and 16 for Delta we should keep hiring the rest of the year. The unions are still working out the details on the Airways 170's pilots at MDA,I haven't heard if there will be staffed by all Airways guys or a J4J deal.

Looks like we're hiring around 60 people a month. Most of them going to the E170. You must meet the min's fly guy posted. The E145 is classes are kind of sporadic. The next E145 class is towards the end of Aug.
Time vary for the E145 at least 1000TT and 100 Mulit.

Good Luck!

Current J4J allows for 32 total aircraft. Currently only 9 EMB-145 were added under J4J. The purchase agreement allows for retirement of 5 aircraft. That means the first 28 EMB-170s will come 50% staffed by MDA pilots (half captains & half FO's). After that any additional J4J must be approved by a RAH pilot vote. Not gonna happen unless the pilot group gains something from it all (adding 190's on property is the carrot being dangled right now). The pilots now have scope over all RAH flying and J4J will be a harder sale this time around. I like the position the pilots are in this time around. No alter-ego to consider thius time.

I'm really geeking out here - nothing else to do. Your flight time of 3.1415 is interesting. If it's Pi you're going for, it should be 3.1416 rounded from 3.1415926535.

Flying Dawg,

Do you really mean that when your Company "buys" a bunch of airplanes you really have to give 1/2 of the seats to the pilots of another airline that used to own them?
