I just got all 3 of my written test out of the way(FOI, FIA, BGI). I am looking to attend a nice school where they will teach me how to be a good teacher. plus work on some of the manuvers from the right seat and help me to pratice for my oral. Preferably a school that will set up your checkride right there at the completion of the training.

I have mainly heard about ATP flight school. What do you professionals know about this school or other schools like it.

I trust you guys, not to steer me wrong.

Thanks in advance...:D

CFI school

What's your budget?

A higher-end suggestion would be FlightSafety Academy in Vero Beach, Florida. I was an instructor there several years ago and trained CFI students. You'll get what you want, especially for training in teaching and for the oral. Good equipment and facilities. You'll definitely pay for it, but I feel that you'll receive what you paid for.

Usually, any one of the major commercial Part 141 flight schools will accept CFI customers, either on a 141 basis or Part 61.

Hope that helps a little. Good luck with your training.

I second the above...^ (how could I possibly disagree with someone who has over 3000 posts on this board anyways?- >>>impossible:cool:

I would also look into Airman Flight school in Norman OK. (OUN)

I was pretty pleased with how this program was set up and how quickly you get in and get out-
John Lair (sp?) taught the best ground school I have ever attended... He lives aviation 24/7

Airman

Thanks, Mr. 350! <blush>

I remember Airman from when I lived in Oklahoma City. It's been around for at least twenty years. Excellent training environment in Oklahoma, though this time of the year you could miss some flights because of severe wx. On the days that you do fly, you will get excellent crosswind landing training bar none. I know of one examiner the place uses. If anything, the man will give you a fair shake.

Good eats in Ada, about 40 nm away, at Bob's BBQ.

Thanks for the responses.

Budget is not really a factor, but i dont want to go to the poor house either.

Do you think I should get my multi rating before doing my CFI training or vice versa??

I am in a similar situation and I chose to get the multi later as opposed to before the CFI. The reason is because I have limited money and I know I will not have access to mutli for a while. I would not be able to maintain currency or get any time instructing so I chose to simply work on the TT for the time being. I will probably get my muti when I meet some more people with whom I can gain experience in multi and maintain currency in the aircraft or have the financial stability to rent.

CFI now v. Multi now

I like the idea of getting your multi, and then jumping in the right seat of the multi to earn initial CFI certification as an MEI and CFI-I. For one thing, you'll be current on the multi knowlege and procedures, the latter of which can go stale. It's also a good way to get the most bang for your multi buck. Then, all you need is a simple single to earn your CFI-A.

Both approaches work. Many people finish all their single-engine and CFI ratings and go for their multi and MEI, and are successful.

Once more, good luck with your training.
