Good luck....

My CFI ride was a total of .7 on the Hobbs. The Designated Examiner was the Chief Pilot at our flight school. I took the ride on a Sunday morning and was already scheduled to instruct on the following Tuesday. Plus we did the checkride early in the morning so he could go duck hunting when we finished. Somehow I think it was just a formality.

I hope you are as fortunate....

Good luck! Is it gonna be done at the local FSDO? or with a DPE?

Good luck! It'll be a day to remember. Once you get your CFI, you're definitely a cut above your average private pilot.

Good luck. Once you pass and think you know it all... you will get your first student and realize you don't know sh!t. ;)

Passed

Wow, what a day.
I get to my flight school an hour and a half before my checkride and an hour before I'm schedule in the 172-RG. I scheduled myself that 30min extra to get situated, preflight, and taxi across the field to the DE's office.

Of all the days to be early and prepared, this was the day. When I arrived at the flight school my airplane was down in the MTC hanger being worked on by the only mechanic on duty. The alternator had failed on the last flight and our mechanic (the great guy that he is) had been on it all morning. It's now 30 min. prior to my check, and the cowlings are still off the engine and I'm handing him screws, drill bits etc. to expedite the job.
...Finally, the A/C was ready to fly.
I then reposition ramps and walk up to the DE's office. The office door is locked. I'm right on time and the office is locked! No one inside, so I call the examiner only to get the answering machine....Waited for about 15 minutes outside the office door and finally, he comes walking up the stairs. It kinda ticked me off b/c he was just like "hello, how ya doin'" acting like his tardiness did not mean anything to me. (if he'd only knew what I'd just been through)

Luckily, that was the most "exciting" and "eventful" part of the checkride. Oral was 4.5hrs and the flight was 1.4.

I have now joined the ranks!

Congratulations!!!

Glad to hear that you passed your ride. Now is when the real learning takes place. Always keep a good attitude (at least in front of your students), never get complacent, let the student make mistakes but don't let them go somewhere your skills can't get you out of, always keep studying, and most important HAVE FUN!

Congrats again.... way to go!

Thanks

Thanks for the positive comments everyone.

Congratulations! As my examiner put it, I was now just another unemployed flight instructor. :)

Welcome to the club. Good luck with your students.

4 1/2 hour oral!!! Holy sh!t.

I think he should have just signed the 8710 right then. I am impressed with anyone who could survive that long, and THEN go out and fly for another 1.5!

Well done.......

You'll be amazed at what you learn from here forward.
