Does a Gold Seal CFI certificate have the words "Gold Seal" on it or just the gold/yellow circle in the right corner? I just renewed mine through American Flyers online and the temporary shows Gold Seal but the actual hard license does not. Does anyone remember.

Thanks in advance.

Haha. Thanks, I couldn't remember.

Gold Seal just means having your CFI/II and MEI right?

no, four criteria count for a gold seal

8 for 10 applicants must pass a checkride on first attempt

OR

20 tests given as a chief flight instructor in a 141 curriculum or as a DPE

OR

a combination of the above, however 2 checkrides given count for a single pass on a checkride

AND

the applicant must hold either an AGI or IGI certificate

I actually qualified for the gold seal, but didn't bother with doing the paper work. It doesn't matter a whole lot for getting jobs, but I think there some advantages to having it when it comes time to renew, although I'm not exactly sure what they are and I'm too lazy to look it up.

It will renew your cfi based on the gold seal status, however I believe the 8/10 pass rate must be within the last 12 or 24 calender months
