If you are considering getting a CE-500 type, get the training in one of the EFIS aircraft. You can always go "back" to steam gauges, but it is more difficult to jump into the EFIS.

Thanks for the good info. If I got a type in the Ultra, what would it say on the back of my certificate? CE-500? Or is the type given in a CE-500 and differences training is given for your aircraft type (ie. Bravo, Ultra, etc.)?

My certificate reads "CE-500". And I second the recommendation on getting the training on an EFIS-equipped simulator. I will add, though, that you will likely find that the different FMS's available for 500 series planes can be a bit overwhelming. I'm flying the Ultra and the Encore and trying to remember how to operate the GNS-X and the Honeywell FMZ takes some effort.

Glass as opposed to what? Is there any other way to fly??? Round dials? HUH? What's that?

If things worked out, the sim would be an Ultra with glass.

Note: This was just a joke, those who fly steam gauges please don't be offended.
