uhoh, did i make that up? i thought that our 172 SPs had 3-axis autopilot. maybe it's just two. well, i know that i can put it on and not worry about heading or altitude, as well as vertical speed (when needed). they also have the NAV option and i can slave them to GPS or VOR instruments. does that answer your question? am i an idiot and make that autopilot thing up? if so, my apologies.

2 axis. Heading and Altitude.
 
no, it's a 3-axis. you forgot about time. it's a Delorean 172....;)
