Steve Malliet, president and CEO of PS and J Professional Baseball, said in a statement that O'Fallon, Mo., and St. Charles County were high on the firm's list when looking at potential cities and franchises in which to invest. "We looked at several markets over the last couple of years and we liked what the city of O'Fallon and St. Charles County had to offer," he said. "The ballpark is fantastic, and will only get better with future improvements."
The principal member of PS and J Professional Baseball is Malliet, who has been a part of three new stadium startup operations in the last 11 years, according to the statement: Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, Wis., in 1995; Coastal Federal Field in Myrtle Beach, S.C., in 1999; and Silver Cross Field in Joliet, Ill., in 2002.
Other members of the ownership group include Timothy Hoeksema, currently president and CEO of Midwest Airlines of Milwaukee, and Fred Stratton, chairman of Briggs and Stratton of Milwaukee.
The new owners plan to assume everyday operation of the Rascals beginning Sept. 22.
