I need some info on cathay Pacific. I'm thinking of applying to their cargo division.
1. Is there a pay difference between the pax and cargo division.
2. What is the payscale, including first year pay.
3. Is the Pay tax free.
4. What is the chance of getting the base you want.
5. What are the upgrades time.
Any additional info is greately appreciated as well. Thanks.

1. Yes, there is a differnece between freight and passenger pay rates.

2. The pay is not tax free. For a US base, you will pay US income tax rates.

3. Chances are fairly good that you will get the base you want, but not guranteed. They will put you where they need you.

4. Upgrades on the passenger side will be upwards of 14 years from what I hear from relatives who fly there. Freight division is shorter.

I interviewed there a couple of years ago after I finshed my term wth Uncle Sam. The pay scales were decent, but the working conditions are totally catered to that of the company. Pilot have almost no power whatsoever. You think relations are bad here at home. It is a whole differnet ball game over there at Cathay city. But othere than that, it offers great experience.

I heard that the current CEO is like their local Lorenzo.
I heard that upgrade to the left seat could as short as 3 years on the freighter fleet.
Lots of info about life in Hong Kong on PPrune.com in the wanabee section. I know HK and it's crowded and built, to say the least.
What I like about the company is that they have bases in N.America, Europe and Australia. That's unique, isn't it?
