Anyone know how to find out which airlines participate in the CASS program? I know that mine does not, but was curious to see who actually does?

For us new guys, what is the CASS Program.

E3Pilot

Cockpit Access Security System. It allows a crewmember of a participating carrier access to the cockpit jumpseat on other offline participating airlines. It is a means of verifying the employment and eligibility of the requesting crewmember.

May 1st you can add SWA to the list. TSA still calls this a test program, lets hope we all pass.

Any idea if ASA and Comair will be included with Delta in Aug

I would presume that ASA or ComAir would have to petition the FAA and TSA seperate from Delta. Each carrier must file the petition for approval from both agencies. The best thing to do is ask your jumpseat rep. Please people don't screw this one up. Or should I say, managements, please don't screw this up!!!!

So when will DELTA have the "industry standard" multiple jumpseats in the cabin?

Oh.. I forgot..

If it doesn't benefit Delta pilots... they could care less....

At AWA, we're fighting management to get this program. Probably not going to happen until the next contract though as Mr. Parker isn't going to give anything up that he can use as a bargaining chip. Personally, I think ALPA should foot the bill for all of us. I would rather see my dues money go for something like this instead of coming up with programs to try and convince the traveling public that we're PROFESSIONALS, as if we need some sort of verification.

Personally, I know several Delta pilots who are very unhappy that they can't offer multiple cabin jumpseats. They would change it in a heartbeat if they could.

The multiple jumpseat has only started to become "industry standard" over the past few years. Change rarely happens overnight. I'll bet we'll see it at Delta -- and all the majors -- sooner or later.

Anyone remember that Fedex deal, the one with the crazy jumpseater with a hammer, that guy would have met the TSA CAss pilot program would he not ?????

Polar is on the Cass list too.;)

Not trying to argue, but wasn't that guy suspended? Or am I thinking of the PSA wacko?
I've heard of pilots hammered BEFORE a flight. Hardly ever, during...

You are thinking of the "PSA wacko" who had actually just been fired.

The "FedEx wacko" had been schedule as the operating F/E on the incident flight but was replaced because his inbound flight went long and it pushed his projected flight time over eight hours. Since he was planning on hijacking and crashing the airplane into the FedEx sort building he booked himself as a jumpseater when we was removed as a crewmember.
