Just read an ALPA email that said that ASA is now CASS approved, could it finally be true??? I don't know about you but I'll believe it the first time I go to jumpseat on another airline and they actually let me up front. Great news if it's true, though.

Yes its true. There's a technical briefing out on it.

Any idea when it goes live?

:DWow, that's GREAT!! Maybe someone in the GO is feeling the HEAT of the upcoming vote and wanted to try a little "good will?" The really sad thing is that they don't even SEE what could be possible here if they just gave us a few "Deserved" things. It would go a loooooooooong way! Hear THAT CT and BL!;)

Already is I used it yesterday.

on what airline? the bulletin that came out about it being up and running said it may take a while for all the various airlines to actually get us in the system, so just wondering who it works on so far.

Or maybe they did what they've been working on for ten years. Do you really think it had anything to do with the current status of our relationship? Not everything relates to ALPA burning this place down.

ASA is CASS approved, but it does nothing for us right now. For you to utilize CASS, ASA has to be on an approved list of CASS participants for each particular airline. The only airline that has formally reached an agreement is Aloha Airlines. ASA has turned it on for everyone, but ASA pilots aren't going to be able to use it all that much. Also, come Sept 1, TSA will require all CASS participents to have pictures to match their employee # and passport #. Which, of course ASA didn't do......sorry to burst the bubble.

I've already used it. My picture came up on the computer at the gate, as did my employee number and passport number. (This is probably why you're required to have both your passport and your company ID when you use CASS)

HHhmmm...that's news to me!! I was told by the man in charge that no pictures have been placed in ASA's computer system to be used by CASS. He also said things are changing by the hour, so maybe what you say is true. I'll check today when I get to work. Don't get me wrong, CASS is going to be great for us commuters. Take care.....

I can't believe I am saying this but....

You can thank Scott Hall for CASS.

There, I said it.

Tried to jumpseat this morning on ASA from DTW to ATL and was told by the gate agent that CASS isn't approved for ASA flights, only for mainline DAL still. Is this just a case of a misinformed gate agent, or are things not completely live yet?

Poopboy, get over it. You want to be a pilot so bad, but you're stuck at the G/O going on the internet all day thinking you're bothering us REAL PILOTS. By the way, the strike ballots are in the mail, should start arriving next week. Voting YES myself. How about you? Oops, you're a mgt wannabe huh, so you can't vote. Too bad.

I would say the first option. It always takes a bit to get everyone informed.

Curious, this was a DAL gate agent that told you this? If so, there is your problem. They are always a few months behind changes.

Feel free to put tool bag SuperPooter on your ignore list, everyone else has.

Yep, Delta gate agent. I figured that was the problem. Thanks for the info.

The last time I jumped on DAL the CA told me pilots could sit in the FA jumpseat. In fact I sat in the cockpit and another pilot sat in a FA jumpseat. A senior FA also confirmed it. I think it's for online pilots and it'll take some time for the word to get to the agents.
