Subject: Flow-Back Issues
Fellow AA Pilots,
You are receiving this e-mail because APA’s database indicates you are currently furloughed. My target audience is, unfortunately, somewhat smaller, so let me apologize for the overkill in advance.
This message is directed at those of you who have chosen to exercise your ability to flow back to an American Eagle CJ Captain position under Supplement “W” of the AA-APA Contract.
In recent days, APA has received many reports of harassment of AA flow back pilots at American Eagle. Specifically, some misguided pilots at Eagle are taking it upon themselves to harass AA flow back pilots by calling them “#####s”, “##########”, or some variation thereof. Some are reportedly refusing to perform First Officer duties if paired with a flow back Captain. Various posters on internet message boards have either discussed this phenomenon or participated in it outright.
This morning, APA filed a formal complaint with AMR management alleging a hostile work environment at American Eagle for our pilots there who have flowed back under Supplement “W”. APA simply cannot sit idly by while our furloughed members – who decided to avail themselves of a contractual benefit agreed to by AA, AE, APA, and AE-ALPA – are subjected to unwarranted attacks.
This issue has the attention of the highest levels of AMR management and is being worked aggressively. They have asked APA for assistance in providing them with specific examples of flow back pilot harassment – that is why we need your help. If you are a flow back pilot and have experienced any hostile behavior at work solely because you are a flow back pilot, we would appreciate hearing your story. You may reply to this e-mail or send a new one to [email protected] detailing your incident or incidents.
Please be as specific as you can regarding what happened to you. Include names, dates, times, places; anything that will help us identify those misguided individuals responsible for the flow back harassment occurring at Eagle. Your information will be treated in the strictest confidence should you choose to reply.
Thank you for your time. With your help, we should be able to stop this behavior quickly.
Fraternally,
Scott
