Looks great but would be better if I didn't have to have their monster branding all over the mains.

Those are promotional stickers. I peeled them off. Images are from the initial installation which was the 2nd Carbon Cub to get the gear in 2017.

Here they are today.

MUCH better. Those tires have really weird looking inner walls. I assume that's normal and a result of low psi?

When ordering gear from CubCrafters they have the option where the mains are further forward? 3X3 I think it's called. Is this standard or something you ask for, ask NOT for...? What needs to be the configuration for future Beringers?

All the Bushwheels have thin side walls so depending on inflation pressure you will see the side wall wrinkle. I run about 9 psi.

My Beringer setup places the nose about 2 1/2" higher than standard gear. About the same as the CC 3X3 gear.

Looks fantastic and seem to be very well built. I wish I could get it directly from CC.

BTW, what's the price of the set? how much time did the installation require? Do you need a STC?

By the way FX comes with 3x3 gear. SS has standard, 3X3 as option. Wheel axle position for Beringer is same as standard but is 2 1/2" longer than standard gear depending on inflation pressure.

They are STC'd but not necessary for experimental airplanes, $10,600. About 2 days to install.

Resources and Pricing for Beringer ALG System versus Standard Gear with AOSS or Acme

Beringer Catalog
Beringer Price List

Current Cost for Full Beringer Gear Replacement Kit on Carbon Cub (all CubCrafters landing gear components replaced) -> $10,573.02
- Beringer ALG Gear System
- Wheels, Brakes, Master Cylinder
- ALIR Anti-Skip
- Parking Brake
- All fittings and hose

Beringer ALG alone (AV-CUB-020) (all landing gear components except wheel, brakes, master cylinder, parking brake and ALIR) -> $7,130

Carbon Cub Standard Gear Market Value if Removed for Beringer replacement
- Bungee (Worthless)
- 1.5" Grove Brakes and 6" Grove Wheels (est $2,000)
- Standard Cub Steel Gear System for SS, 3X3 Gear FX ( est $1,000)

CubCrafter AOSS Option -> $3,470
Acme Aero Shocks -> $3,300

Best estimate to covert from CubCrafters factory standard gear system on SS or FX with either AOSS or Acme to full Beringer ALG with ALIR and parking brake would be net -> around $4,500

Here is the version history for the Beringer gear system.

Version 1 Beringer ALG - The system was introduced/announced around 2016. I got a set of version 1 struts in 2017. Documented a taxi cross wind low wing condition. Cross wind would lift the upwind wing compressing downwind strut and extending upwind strut. Opposite aileron would not level the wings at normal taxi speed. With crosswind there simply was not enough air flow over the wing to allow struts to level at full aileron throw. With sufficient airflow across aileron taking off and landing this was not an issue. Only during low speed taxi.

Version 2 Beringer ALG - Beringer "Anti-Roll" fix was introduced. This fixed the taxi low wing issue but the wheel camber issue issue was discovered. With the aircraft unloaded not in motion there was about a 2 degree camber issue for the wheel/tire assembly. Looking at wheels head on the top of the tires had about a 2 degree camber in. There was no impact on gear performance with this condition that disappeared during taxi with any airflow across the wings.

Version 3 Beringer ALG - Camber issue resolved by changing axle main gear attach block milling to remove 2 degree camber of main wheel. This is the current version (current shipping version). Wing low issue and camber issue fixed. No other outstanding problems.
