If its not part of our uniform requirement can we write off buying for sunglasses for work?
 
Yes you can I do it every year. Glaucoma prevention at altitude. PS I was diagnosed with anal glaucoma... i don't see my ass going to work today.
 
Yes, its a reasonable and customary professional requirement. Its no different than a professional mechanic itemizing a tool purchase.

Seriously though, as a mechanic I wrote off everything that could conceivable be job related. Whether it's tools, socks, or ink pens, I always try to get the maximum deduction! I would certainly think sunglasses are a must have for an aviator and I doubt the IRS would argue with it.
