ShawnC mentioned a Bogen Superclamp in another thread, and it reminded me of an idea I had a while back. The idea involved taking videos or stills from outside a plane while flying. Would clamping a camera onto a strut require a 337 and/or field approval? Sure seems like it would. Anyone done this? Ideas?

I have seen that set up used in a Citabria, he didn't mention anything about approval since its not permenat.

The biggest thing is a wide angle lens because you can't really aim it, and you need a camera with a remote release.

Take a peek at his set up at his site, I wanna do something similar (waiting for good weather, probally some time in the spring).

Very neat photo... I finally figured out what you meant by remote release - shutter release. At first I thought it was for dropping the camera for some reason!

Hehe, that would be another $1,000 out of my pocket for no reason. But you never know I could make it like one of those USAF movies where they retrive the camera with a C-130.

Now that would be cool, trailing a hook out of a cub, and realing in a camera. Now what size parachute would be needed?

gotta be careful doing that in a Cub. It might reel me in!
