I heard last night the 737 sim bay is empty. Rumor says to make room for Airbus Sim! Can anyone in IAH verify if the 737 round dial is gone?

Half true

The sim is out temporairly for mx. It will be back up and running as 737-300, much to the dissapointment of all the 73 pilots at cal that wish it would return as a 737-800 sim.

Hopefully it falls off the truck after it gets struck by lightning while rabid rats eat at the wiring....man I hate that thing.

They need the rebuild on the -300 efis... That thing has broken on me twice in the last four years.

I knew we were looking at them... except that AA wanted more $$ for a sim than you could get a new one for.

And why in heck would CAL buy and airbus sim???? Plus there is already a free bay where the DC-10 used to be. They also have an MD-80 sim that is probably on its way out.

Le Bus de Continental

Um..yah, it's going to be replaced by the new A380 sim. Don't expect it anytime soon, though - the sim has wiring problems as well....

I heard it was for an Ilyushion (sp.) IL-78.

Thus the name "Christine". ;-)

Sitting in the EWR crew lounge today I over heard a pilot talking about his upcoming upgrade on the 737. 4 of his sims are going to be in DFW.

A friend of mine just started new hire class at CAL (class of 12 all 737 4 IAH , 8 EWR Fyi). But they had all their sims scheduled but they were told to expect that to change when the RoundDial sim to a dive... DFW or MIA were mentioned.

When I was down there 6 months ago a few of the instructors mentioned that they normally sent the upgrades to American's facility in DFW because there are a few subtle difference in their airplanes, and they like keeping the Newbies close to the training center's support system. There was a time last year when they were hiring a lot (jan-feb...) where they were using American's 737-800 sims more than American was.

I think it goes along with the UAL/CAL merger rumors!!! I figure that's all bunch a bullsh!t. At this point just trying to keep informed from the backside of the world.

When the training department is packed, a lot of training is done at DFW or SEA (757)

787 sim will probably go where DC10 was. Training for newhires has been going on in DFW,SEA,MIA for quite some time. Also talespin I wouldn't rely on flightinfo to stay informed about CO!! There is more info on Flight ops web.....

airbus instead of boeing??

fcuk ya!

in all reality, i doubt i'll ever see a bus product again... i sure as hell hope not

AA does have too many 737-800 sims. They were purchased and installed after it was announced we'd be buying some huge qty of B-737's. That went away quickly enough. Now our B-737 sim/airplane ratio is way too high. I've been hearing for years about how AA was going to sell most of them.

As for sales price, if there is a significant lag in deliveries of the new sims, I can see how a currently operating and well-maintained sim could go for more than a new one.
