justice is the callsign of "con-air" the US Marshalls service JPATS division.
'Justice Prisioner and Alien Transportation Service'
great job. from what i understand usually FAA guys move to that job and stay till retirement. noone leaves cause they like it so much. i just aplied with a LOR but well see how that goes. the big jets are from OK city but the smaller saberliners are in LA and other types scattered around.
anyone else have information on them? any other bases of ops?
anyone here work for them and can attest for the QOL?
can i thik of another abbreviation? or abbriev?
For those qualified in the MD-80, Higher Power Aviation provides under contract additional pilots to "Justice" for crews to fly the MD-80s. You can contact HPA 1-800-Jetcrew and ask for Don or Gayle & they will provide you the necessary information on contract flying. DOJ provides is authorized to contract for additional crews when it is called for & they use HPA to provide those crews. Don't know details about pay or scheduling but check with them & they'll provide you the necessary info. Good luck,
Actually, there are three bases. OKC is the main base with their own terminal, a 2100 bed jail with two jetways on the west side of the airport. The MD80's are based in OKC, AEX (Alexandria, LA) and ELP/IWA (El Paso, TX/Phoenix, AZ). It is my understanding that they still have at least 1 727 in the fleet. The sabres are gone and they are operating 2 LR25's and at least 3 HS125-800's.
Right now you have to be ex-military or a transfering federal employee to get on. But they have hired outside of that in the past. But it is a long process which can take 6 months or more.
It's an interesting job. You work Monday through Friday with all federal holidays off.
They do have a base in Phoenix. Its actually at Williams Gateway Airport in Mesa (IWA).
More than once, I've seen their MD80 take off and make some pretty serious steep bank turns after departure. I get the idea they really don't give a $$#$%%^# what their passengers think!
It is my understanding that do not. Their mission is strictly the transportation of prisoners. Other agencies do operate RW. Customs, DEA, Border Patrol to name a few.
US customs likes former military, they pay great too. GS 13-14 or something....starts at 56k and goes to 90k or something.
they operate the Blackhawks. all black with a gold stripe. might have seen em. bases all around the coastal areas and one in KC MO. htat ones always full and never hiring. also P3's and king airs. And dont forget the Citation jets with the F-16 radar in the nose....(APG-66 unit?)...they wont let you look inside if you talk to them on the ramps. have to go to treasury agent school first. but sounds like alot of fun.
There are somewhat less "Justice" flights than you may think, because ATC frequently gets USA Jet Airlines confused with Justice, especially with centers that handle few USA Jet flights.
Sometimes you hear ATC call USA Jet Airlines "Justice" even though their call sign is "Jet US...". In the ATC system, the airline code is JUS, so you can see why ATC often gets them confused. USA Jet's call sign is "Jet US___".
And just because you hear the call sign Justice dont always assume that it is a DOJ airplane. I have done some subcontracting work with them in the 727 and had a very interesting time. To put iit short the DOJ guards are great to work with
