I am looking for some info on CAL. I've seen the pay scales but I was curious about some other specifics in the contract.

Does CAL have any seat or equipment locks after training? How soon can you bid another fleet type?

How many hours of pay could one expect as a line holder for the month both junior and senior? Is CAL all hard time or do they still have some work rules that help with Soft Pay.

What's the junior airplane right now and bases?

What is the pay in training?

And last but not least what are the competitive flight times for the job?

Thanks in advance for your help!

can bid up but not down (seat lock for 2 yrs).

take base pay and multiply x 100 for a month (near best case). take base pay and multiply x 76 (reserve min guarantee) and that is roughly worst case.

junior equipment now seems to be 737 EWR.

good place with good people.

flying the snot out of reserves right now. no sitting around.

Thanks for the info! I am just trying to get some general info on the contract over there. It looks like a great place to work and I have heard only good things.

also add that in 2007 we will have 270 retire just on age 60 alone and over 250 in 2008.........

I think the number will be closer to 350 from what I've heard and we are running thin as it is

I heard that a lot of guys (100+) have put in to retire early in November. I flew with a 59-yr old last week who said that if he waited until he turned 60 in May versus leaving in November, he'd actually lose money. Something about the bond market, lump-sum maturity dates etc.

I have flown with quite a few also that are retiring early. Supposedly the GATT rate is reversing its trend where the retirees start losing some of their "A" fund monies....

Is anybody giving odds on how many upgrades there are gonna be? I'd wager we'll have G-# Captains before too long.

Is that the standard line at airlines?

I was told 4-5 years at TWA also. I hope this time it's true.

4-5 year upgrades is the rough estimate....

just as the ride can go from smooth to rough in the blink of an eye. i hope things continue to allow for quick movement through the ranks. but, this is an airline. 'nuff said.

not arguing that one bit... just using current retirements as a basis...

but as we all know... "past performance does not guaruntee future results"
