Edited for MJG:

This post was a comeback to Vingus' weak and ignorant post about benefits - and that only. I have never advocated junior pilots subsidizing senior pilots' careers and I 100% disagree with the current policy/contract of no health care for 6 months. I will do my part going forward to effect positive changes for all new hires at CAL.

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

It may have been a cheap shot, but it wasn't ignorant or untrue! If it is, please enlighten me, cause I gotta tell you, that first year pay is enough to scare people off!

And enjoy your 30 bucks an hour your first year along with NO health care for 6 months. Sweet!

It's more like $29.50/hr. The junior guys are the future and only we can change that pay scale in the future.

As far as no health insurance. The company offers other plans which cost about the same a CAL insurance. In some cases even less. The policy sucks, but your wrong about NO health care. If the cost is the same what difference does it make, other than another thing to complain about in life.

Now that we are completely of the subject, let's get it back. CAL made a profit.

Hey Pat,

Brick Wall...Head. Ya, your not....He's.... It's just not gonna work. F-UM

All for taking back, Won't matter to him, he's just bitter little boy.

What's up dude? Have you listened to today's earnings conference call? Management addresses this issue on that call. Some of the new NG's are replacement aircraft for the classics.

-Neal

Nothing much, just sitting reserve in the treatment center.

As I stated, the 65 NG's will be MOSTLY growth. I understand that some of the NG's will replace some of the classics. That being said, I didn't listen to the conference call, I just don't see why we would spend a good chunk of change to put winglets on airplanes we will get rid of in the near future.

Cheers

You're an idiot! Yeah first year sucks, but CAL is doing good, we will negotiate a new deal in 2008, we have 70 more airplanes coming by the end of 2009, we have a crap load of retirements, and the list goes on and on. Yeah sitting on reserve under this contract blows, but I'll retire number 32 at a company that appears to be making it through! Short term loss for a long term gain, if you want short term only then Jblu is your team!

I did enjoy it thank you. Now I've more than doubled my salary and I was never without health insurance and I'm only 400 numbers from Captain. Did I mention that I held Thanksgiving off and I've only been here 12 1/2 months. It was the easiest decision of my life.

Now we will work on getting that pay up for you so in 3 years you can start at $40 an hour. It might take you 20 years to upgrade but hey, you'll get that extra $10 bucks an hour!!!

Good luck!!

Definitely listen to the call (available on www.continental.com) as CAL management addresses the issues you are bringing up (both the replacement/growth issue as well as the winglet issue). Basically though, the winglets are a good investment because they will pay for themselves in fuel savings well before the airplanes come off of lease and secondly they will make the aircraft more attractive to the lessor when it comes time to remarket them to other lessee's.

Well said.
Something else in this concessionary contract was negotiated in exchange for the terrible first year pay. Sure something very good.
