Everyone,

At a minimum as union members we have to participate in polling data for our union. Please take 15 minutes of your time and participate in the poll. This is a very important poll. As many of you remember I was fighting our union last time around because I truly believed we had the wrong leadership.

Today is a different story. I am actively engaged in the contract effort and I wouldn't put my name down if I didn't believe this to be true. Information is knowledge and knowledge is power. Get involved with our contract effort, take the poll and make sure your friends do as well. Thank you!

Fraternally,

Jayson Baron
CAL ALPA
Strike Preparedness Chairman
Membership Committee

CA Jay Pierce, Negotiation Committee Chairman, has asked for the assistance of the SPSC volunteers. The current website survey is not being taken by the pilot group, less than 25% with 6 days to go.
Jay has asked that we push the pilots to take the survey. It is imperative that at least 50% of the pilot group take this survey because this % is needed to be considered valid. The results will be tallied and the MEC will be briefed on the results and the opening position for Section 6 (Economics) will be garnered from these results. This will shape our next contract and we need everyone's input.

If you are in the crew room, get all pilots to use the CMS computers and go to the calalpa website, there is a BALLOT POINT HOT button on the home page that will direct you to ballotpoint.com/spalpa, or they can go directly to ballotpoint.com/spalpa on a personal/hotel computer. The ID is each pilot's ALPA #, Password is SURVEY for all. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes. If you are not flying prior to Sunday, do what you can to get the word out, i.e. call friends or visit the crew rooms if possible.

I did mine too. Pretty painless. It's surprising that more people haven't made the effort yet.

Done and done.

Is there another link to get started? On the road and the link posted here doesn't seem to work, at least on this computer???

When is the deadline?

Beginning on September 10, ALPA will be conducting a web-based survey of our workgroup. This survey will help provide valuable information to your Negotiating Committee and MEC on issues that are either being discussed in the near future or will be part of our opening position for the economic sections as we work toward negotiating Contract '08. All voting members and apprentice members at Continental Airlines have been selected to participate in this survey.

Your input is essential.

If every crewmember participates, the web-survey will provide extremely accurate results. If not, accuracy will suffer commensurately.

Our goal is for every eligible member to respond to the web-based survey. At a minimum, we need at least 80% to participate. We believe that a figure above 90% is achievable.

Here are a few frequently asked questions about web-based surveys:

How do I log on?

The survey is found on the internet at this link:

https://www.ballotpoint.com/spalpa

In the upper left you will see "ID:" and "PWD:"

* For "ID:" Use your Member ID.
* The "PWD:" is "SURVEY".

Then follow the menu prompts. If you would like detailed login instructions they are as follows:

* Click the button titled "Login" Along the left you will see "View Surveys"
* Click on that item. In the middle of the screen you will see a box listing the survey titled: "Continental Web Survey".
* Click on the "Request Survey" button to start your survey.

If you have difficulty accessing the survey, please contact the MEC office at 281-987-3636.

What if I feel I do not have enough information to answer all the questions?

Please answer the questions that you are comfortable with and indicate, if necessary, where you are unsure about the others. Even if you are unsure, it is very important information for your union to know. It allows your union to know the areas in which we need to provide additional communications and educational materials.

When will the web-survey end?

September 30, 2007 at 10 AM ET

What happens if I choose not to participate?

First, ALPA leadership will not have the value of your input. Second, with each crewmember who chooses not to participate, the results become less reflective of the entire pilot group. In survey terminology this is called self-selection bias.

How long is the survey?

It will take you about 20 minutes to complete.

Will the union know my individual responses to the questions?

No. ALPA will receive tabulation of all the responses, but will not know your individual responses.

done, hope everyone else takes the time.

Got it done!!! I started out with "Fire Fox" had some trouble then used "Explorer" with no problems!!

done, painless. My question is did CALPA call everyone and leave a message today or just the ones that they show haven't done it?

They must have called everyone because I finished mine last week and got the message on my phone yesterday.
