If I am correct, the CAL contract states that all turbojets above 50 seats are to be flown at Mainline. It was also just announced that Colgan will be flying 74-seat turboprops for CAL starting early 08. Does this have an effect on the mainline flying and would mainline pilots have flown the 74-seaters if offered them? Seems like there is no end for the undercutting and outsourcing...

Will You Please Just Sit Down And Shut Up? People Are Trying To Feed Their Illegal Alien Children.

I think the two key words here are turbojets vs. turboporps. Since they are not jet aircraft, and turboprop aircraft, they can get around this issue. That is the loophole that many airlines have used in regards to larger aircraft

TurboJETs versus TurboPROPs! :P

CAL's contract with it's pilots states "...the company (CAL) will not directly or through an affiliate establish any new airline which operates aircraft other than small jets and small turboprops;..."

Small turboprops are defined in the contract as turboprops with 79 seats or less. Small Jet is defined as jets with 50 seats or less. Colgan can operate the Q400 for CAL.

An affiliate can fly a small jet (<50 seats) or a large turboprop (<79 seats) according to our scope. Hopefully in the next contract, 2008, that will change to read that no affiliate can fly under CAL colors. All flying should be done by mainline.

What do you think it's going to take to get vast improvements in your contract with Kellner at the helm? Seems the moral at CAL is different without Gordon around.

That would be impressive. Is that even possible?

It's only possible with a MEC that has a set. If a pilot group stands firm alot of things are possible. I think we can get vast improvements to our next contract. By the time talks come around 50%+ will be guys with 10 years or less on the property. That should stop the "that's how it's always been!" attitude. Many of us have come from other majors and know what the good things were in their contracts. We will also be negotiating during a time when the company is making money.

I'm a cup half full guy abut our next contract.
