Continental Airlines Reports November 2006 Operational Performance

HOUSTON, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL - News) today reported a November consolidated (mainline plus regional) load factor of 80.7 percent, 2.0 points above last year's November consolidated load factor. The carrier reported a mainline load factor of 81.1 percent, 2.1 points above the November 2005 mainline load factor, and a domestic mainline load factor of 84.2 percent, 3.0 points above November 2005. All three were records for the month. In addition, the airline had an international mainline load factor of 77.4 percent, 1.1 points above November 2005.

During the month, Continental recorded a U.S. Department of Transportation on-time arrival rate of 76.5 percent and a November mainline completion factor of 99.7 percent.

In November 2006, Continental flew 7.0 billion consolidated revenue passenger miles (RPMs) and 8.7 billion consolidated available seat miles (ASMs), resulting in a traffic increase of 9.8 percent and a capacity increase of 7.1 percent as compared to November 2005. In November 2006, Continental flew 6.2 billion mainline RPMs and 7.6 billion mainline ASMs, resulting in a mainline traffic increase of 10.0 percent and a 7.1 percent increase in mainline capacity as compared to November 2005. Domestic mainline traffic was 3.5 billion RPMs in November 2006, up 8.1 percent from November 2005, and domestic mainline capacity was 4.2 billion ASMs, up 4.2 percent from November 2005.
For November 2006, consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile (RASM) is estimated to have increased between 2.5 and 3.5 percent compared to November 2005, while mainline passenger RASM is estimated to have increased between 4.0 and 5.0 percent compared to November 2005. For October 2006, consolidated passenger RASM increased 5.3 percent compared to October 2005, while mainline passenger RASM increased 5.8 percent from October 2005.
November 2006 sales at continental.com increased 18.0 percent over November 2005.
Continental's regional operations had a record November load factor of 77.3 percent, 0.9 points above last year's November load factor. Regional RPMs were 822.8 million and regional ASMs were 1,064.7 million in November 2006, resulting in a traffic increase of 8.4 percent and a capacity increase of 7.1 percent versus November 2005.
