I was wondering how many jumpseaters CAL will take. I was hoping to get to tpa this weekend and will probably try to go thru iah. Im afraid to ask, but anyone know how the loads are on that route? Thanks for any info.

Continental will take one per physical jumpseat. Continental Express will take as many as there are open seats in the back. So will CommutAir, which does Continental Connection throughout CLE and the northeast.

Unfortunately Continental charges its employees to non-rev, making it more likely the jumpseat is taken even on open flights than on US Airways or Delta, where there isn't a per-flight charge. Sometimes with the cooperation of the gate and captain they'll sneak more than one jumpseater on, but I wouldn't plan on it. Still, worth a shot.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but TPA is very difficult for CAL. Not only is IAH a hub, but CAL has a huge reservation center in TPA, meaning lots of employees in both cities. Believe it or not, I have always had more luck with MCO than TPA. Also try going through CLE if it works for you. CLE being a smaller hub, and less people commuting to/from work on it.

Good luck.
