CAL interview info needed!

Yes, I was able to get an interview with CAL in a couple of weeks. I don't have any secrets on how this happened. I had internal letters of rec. and I have 5 years of major airline experience (i.e. furloughed). If there is anyone out there that has been to an interview, I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Good luck to all. I already have the info from aviationinterviews.com. BTW, they interview in EWR and IAH on Wed and Thurs. now.

Does anyone know how big the Guam base is, or how long one might be marooned on the Island, untill the opportunity to bid EWR might take? Basically is this as bad as it sounds as to make EWR seem like a good choice? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There are 86 FOs there now. Most of the folks in Guam are there because they want to be there. With the higher hourly pay on the 737-800, international override, and a cost of living allowance, they're making a couple thousand more per month. After the current paycut, this was even more of a draw. Under normal circumstances, each bid there are a handful of nonvols to Guam. It will depend on where you fall in your particular class, and seniority within any particular class is by birthdate. If you're in the bottom 5 or 6 of your class, you may go. You'll only know where you fall in your class when you get there on the first day and sign in.

The international overide is gone, but the rest of your post is spot on. Or was there a side letter for GUM?

Also, as an added perk (especailly for new hires) if you agree to stay for 18 months (I think) you get 2nd year pay. This is a big bump ovet the lousy $30k starting pay.
