I believe there were some 737 sim issues in the past and created a shortage needed there so most people are going to the 737 from what I have heard. Although I do know that a recent class had a few 756 and 777 slots but not many of each (maybe 2-4 total for the class).
Plan 2-3 months on reserve MAX. if you are on the 737. My class was all 737 and nobody spent longer than 6 weeks on reserve.
I do know one guy who got hired very recently on the "trip" (777) and is already holding a line but I think that's b/c a LOT of senior guys bid reserve for the extra time off.
Stupid question, why do you guys call it the "trip"?
Thanks

Second stupid question....if flying the 75/76 2nd year...what does that average annual pay typically blend out to be? I didn't stay at a holiday inn express last night.
Thanks
Captain X,
Illuminating info. Thanks.
I have an app in right now, and just trying to figure out how long it will take to make up YR1 pay.
As an aside, how many days/month you guys flying these days? Ballpark, best guess, chainsaw cut???

I've seen a lot of threads saying that you'll only be on reserve for 6 weeks to a couple of months. This is not necessarily true. A lot of this depends on when you get hired. For example, May hires will be on reserve for 6 or 7 months due to the slow down in hiring over the summer. This will probably be true for anyone hired between February and May depending on your aircraft. October and beyond hires can probably expect to be on reserve for 2-3 months, maybe more. I was hired last May and sat reserve for 7 months, 3 in EWR, 4 in IAH. This was all on the 737. I still can not hold 757/767 in IAH, with 1 year on property. Yes, the seniority is moving us up fast, but let's not overinflate how quickly we're moving up. Your experience may vary.....
How long does it take to hold IAH? I assume the 737 is the easiest way to get to IAH
