I think it is about 4 to 6 weeks. And yes you do get second year pay + $1100 and medical benefits on arriving in Guam.

IF you agree to stay on Guam for 18 months.

If not, then its first year pay + the $1100 over ride and you can leave whenever you hold a position stateside.

By being one of the first to apply when they announced that they were interviewing.

Didn't they something to the effect of "when you apply has no bearing on when you get called" when they first made the announcement that they were gonna accept apps? I guess they were blowing smoke to prevent to try to prevent excessive apps from crashing the system?

Are most Guam based pilots living in Guam or commuting?

Nope. Scholarship winner.

Beware Continental was going to hire 300 flight attendants this year...They just stopped after 2 classes,,,,,

Not sure what has changed here , but now they are stopping things again..Not sure what is going on with the company.....

I know it is a hard decision to make--STAY or go to a major ..? That you may be there for 1-2 years and then get laid off...because a merger with another company is not far off......

That's odd. I wonder what all those people sitting waiting for interviews under the "F/A Interview" room were doing the other day in Newark and in Houston?

Who are we going to merge with? Is that source better than your inside track on FA hiring?

They told a friend on mine that was interviewing that end of may was the last class. for the year most likely that the company was reworking somethings and was unable to hire anymore...That from a recruiter..

The merger you already know...They are already on most of your flight numbers right now.....

With Korean Air? I hope nobody gets a Seoul base.....

Bye Bye--General Lee

This was in the update from the MEC Chairman today, 5/13/05
On a positive note, our seniority list continues to grow in numbers, as our latest new hire class joined our airline this week. Current projections indicate approximately 48 pilots per month indefinitely. This positive news for us all nonetheless stretches the Training Department, our brother and sister instructor core and our facilities to the max.. As our new pilots transit to their bases and join us in the cockpits, extend the hand of welcome to each and every one of them. We also have new hire flight attendants joining our flight crews; please welcome them aboard as well.

The company and the flight attendants are scheduled to get back to the negotiations table this week in a continuing effort to reach agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement. We will report any progress as information becomes available.

I don't know your source, but there is no slowing down yet. Now, maybe they are going to slow f/a hiring as "negotiating leverage" but I doubt it.
