I think its pretty easy to figure out why no corporate guys are applying. 30 grand a year and no health benifits for six months give you an idea?

Not flaming, just the facts.

It's too bad some pilots can't see beyond their face. 30K first year (in fact, I think it's less than that), $70K second year (if you hold a WB line) and rising from there. Approx 5 yr upgrade to 73 captain, unheard of in the major business. Sounds to me like it's worth the 12 month setback in pay in return for flying scheduled with a world-class airline, with HUGE upside potential.

In fact, most majors first year pay sucks. Sometimes you just have to make the jump and experience the initial financial pain for the larger reward down the road.

Many corporate pilots, especially those who fly on-demand international, have some great experience that the CAL pilo group would benefit from. Hopefully those who want to come to CAL will see the upside beyond that first year.

Thats just what I thought when I went to DAL in 01. Still have not seen the "HUGE upside potential"

Timing is everything, and unfortunately you weren't on the winning end of good timing. If age 60 stays the same, no downsizing (I know no guarantees) those hired at CAL in the beginning of the hiring wave will be Captains (albeit very junior ones) in two to four years.

I know pilots hired at Delta in the first class in late 85 or 86 after a long hiatus from hiring. Needless to say I would bet they have had very rapid movement at Delta and absolutely outstanding careers until a few years ago!

I can't argue poor timing. But at the time it seemed a smart move. All I am saying is I would evaluate the pay, benefits and stability of a current job before jumping on any other job. Grass always appears greener. As for me, if I had stayed put at xjet I would be at CAL now like most of my class.
