Is that a furloughed UAL guy, or did he leave from a flying position over there?

It's all the pref interview guys that are the last of the flow through. The last group of them will go in March. After that, ALOT of people will be curious as to how many XJT'ers will be in further classes.

These were people who had posistions offered to them way back when there was a flow-through agreement.

any idea on the equipment assignments lately for newhires?

I don't have individual class breakdowns, but just eye-balling the seniority list, there are about 20-25 people from that list that are in the 757. The rest are in the 737. All are in EWR.

No fractional or corporate guys?

Is there a reason they don't hire corporate guys or are there just not many corporate guys applying?

I think its pretty easy to figure out why no corporate guys are applying. 30 grand a year and no health benifits for six months give you an idea?

Not flaming, just the facts.

Agreed. Some people have a new baby, the wife at home and a mortgage payment above $1000 a month. They really can't just go to a place like CAL. Then consider how good the chances are of a merger/furlough before you ever reach 2nd year pay. They can't just leave a job that pays 70k + a year.

Yep food stamp wages. Maybe those supper rich(sarcasm)757 captains at 140k a year will buy a few dinners.

Looks like pilots from both Flight Options and Avantair were included. I am sure the FLOPS guy is relieved given that company's chronic problems...

I've got an app in and I'm a corporate guy, so I'd like to know if I have a prayer myself. I've got 2 internal recs, am currently a chief pilot/DO for a 91 outfit. I've also been a check airman. (Was able to check that box). I'm short on the time side, (just under 3000, 350 jet PIC), but I'm hoping all the recs and checked boxes will be enough to get 'em to at least talk to me.

Just wondering if anyone could PM me with names/e-mail of the Expressjet guys that went up with a hire date at COEX of 10/96. Just curious who went and equipment they are on now. Thanks.

I guess it would depend on who is recomending you. Many have gotten hired with less, but they had someone big pulling for them. I would think you would need over 6000 with 2000 pic 121 to be competitive. I have heard that CAL is done interviewing for the near future, unless you are with XJT. Keep flying.........

Now if you make it to the interview, be sure you talk up how incompetent and out of place us lowly airline guys are that happen to wander into your current domain (ref your comments on the 135 charter thread).

No worries though, if and when you make it on the line at CAL you will be just as lost out on IOE in our world, but I am sure, no, I can guarantee you will be given a lot of slack and help.

Catch my drift?

Depending on..
who is recommending you - meaning their reputation,
how well they know you
and
how hard they are willing to fight for you to pull your application on the top of the pile.

I'm ex corporate, but I was a '87 hire, and for the most part haven't burnt bridges. In fact I flew the panel for KD back on the Bus. I have one guy trying to get in (corporate) and he has heard nothing. I wish I knew what is up with the low numbers of our type. Especially Frax flyers, which I think have some commonality to pt.121 flying.

I'm going to start asking some questions, I'll let you know if I find anything out.

Interview Calls

Does anyone know when CAL makes their interview calls. I am not an expressjet guy, but my sponsor was told I would be added to the call list. This has been about 6 weeks. Just curious if there was a slow down due to being backed up in the training department, or if it was only express guys getting the calls lately. Thanks for any info.

I had a high level management pilot on my jump seat last March for almost three hours. He explained the type of pilots he envisioned getting hired in great detail. He stated Continental wanted a good mix of airline, military, corporate/fractional. It seems to me if you remove the preferential interview group from CALEXP which is done or will be shortly his statement holds true today.

Two of the three pilots I sponsored were corporate/fractional. The third use to be corporate and most recently had 121 experience. I have flown with several new hires who were from Net Jets or other fractional/corporate backgrounds. Keep plugging away from my perspective no bias to airline guys over corporate/fractional other than the fact that there are more 121 guys than corporate out there.

Good to know that I at least have a slim shot. I've got one guy recommending me that has been there about 6 months (friend from college), and one super senior international captain. I have flown with both before, and that's why they're doing it. Thanks for the info!

I was told by my cp that once an applicant is on the short list (the one you are probably on if your buds went to bat for you to their cp) that he/she is ranked within that list by total time. The calls for interviews do not all come from that short list but the ones that do go in that order. So if someone gets put on that list 2 months after you but has more time they will get the call first. I had someone on the list for 3 months or so and inquired as to why no call and this was the explanation I got. He got called a few weeks later. It may be all bs but that is what I was told. It may be worth while to go have your refs find out where you stand. My cp told me that my friend was 20/180.

Good Luck from an 8yr fo that made just 15 g's less than the imaginary 757 capt.
